It looks like Donny will have an appointment with a judge after his term in office.

Judge rules Donald Trump does not have presidential immunity protections in hush money case.

A judge has ruled against Donald Trump getting his hush money conviction thrown out on immunity grounds.

In May, Mr Trump became the first former US President to be convicted of a crime after he was found guilty on all 34 counts of fraud by falsifying business records to cover up payments of $200,000 ($US130,000) to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

It was alleged Mr Trump wanted to buy her silence about an alleged extramarital sexual encounter which was in danger of becoming public knowledge in the run up to the 2016 US Presidential election. Paying to keep stories quiet isn’t illegal but falsifying business records is.

Mr Trump denied a sexual encounter with Ms Daniels took place and denied all the charges.

The 78-year-old was elected President for a second time in the 2024 US election in November.

But on Monday (Tuesday, Australian time), Judge Juan Merchan said a Supreme Court decision granting presidents sweeping immunity for official acts did not apply to the hush money conviction as testimony at the New York trial related “entirely to unofficial conduct,” CNN and The New York Times reported.......

Donny's buddy, scruffy Stephen, has an idea, but it isn't new.

One of Donald Trump’s most influential backers has suggested a plan so egregious it even makes many of the President-elect’s own fans furious.

One of Donald Trump’s biggest cheerleaders has suggested he stand for a third presidential term – a move so radical that is not currently allowed in the US.

“Maybe we do it again in ‘28?” Steve Bannon told a Republican gala on Sunday, referring to the date of the next US election.

The suggestion that incoming president Mr Trump be able to serve for more than two terms excites some of his supporters, enrages others and terrifies his opponents who fear he may never want to leave the top job.

But Mr Trump, himself, has raised the prospect of remaining in office – although he has then often dismissed the possibility. ......

Is a head on collision imminent?

Beginning of the end: Elon Musk overreaches in his relationship with Donald Trump.

Oh dear. Bad omens are afoot. We may have seen, this week, the start of an inevitable deterioration in the power couple bromance between Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

Short version: an unelected billionaire from South Africa, who has never held public office and is, in fact, ineligible to be the American president, appears to have seized effective control of the US government. And he’s done it under the very nose of the guy the American people actually chose, quite recently, to lead that government.

Mr Trump famously has a low tolerance for being upstaged, or for being seen as the junior partner in any relationship. Mr Musk has seemingly decided to test that tolerance...........

Donny is spewing like a spoilt child now.

‘No apologies’: Republicans revolt against Trump.

Donald Trump may have wanted to point score over the Democrats when he and tech billionaire Elon Musk scuppered a spending bill to avert a US Government shutdown, but it has galvanised many Republicans to defy the President-elect instead.

“No apologies,” tweeted Republican congressman Chip Roy who openly defied Donald Trump by voting voted against a revamped spending bill which could have added to America’s $58 trillion dent pile but had the president-elect’s seal of approval.

Mr Trump furiously said the Texas politician had “no talent,” and should lose his seat for refusing orders.

Mr Chip was one of 38 Republicans – a significant number – to ignore Mr Trump’s demands. It’s a sign he may not have things all his own way when he steps into the White House next month.......

Donny is sounding more like PooTin and Xi as each day passes.

1st he wants Canada as the 51st state, then he wants to takes back control of the Panama canal and topping that off with the acquisition of Greenland. Sounds like he still wants to be a dictator.

Denmark has made a shift in Greenland after Donald Trump said he wished to obtain the island to strengthen the United States.

Appeals court upholds Trump sexual abuse finding in E Jean Carroll case.

A US appeals court has upheld a jury's finding in a civil case that Donald Trump sexually abused a columnist in the mid-1990s.

The 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals issued a written opinion upholding the $US5 million ($8 million) award that the Manhattan jury granted to E Jean Carroll for defamation and sexual abuse.......

Police confirm ‘large’ find after deadly Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside Trump International Hotel.

Investigators have revealed that “large firework mortars” and gas canisters were found in the back of a Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day that killed one person and injured several others.

The blast is now reportedly being investigated as a possible terrorist attack, three senior law-enforcement members briefed on the matter told NBC News.

Footage of the deadly incident, captured on Wednesday morning local time, shows the Tesla-made electric vehicle bursting into a ball of flames while parked directly outside the entrance to the hotel.......

Donny is spewing again.

Judge rules president-elect Donald Trump must be sentenced in 'hush money' trial.

A judge has ruled president-elect Donald Trump must be sentenced on January 10 in the criminal case in which he was convicted on charges involving "hush money" paid to an adult film actress, adding that he is not inclined to impose a jail sentence.

Judge Juan Merchan said he denied Trump's motion to dismiss the case due to his presidential election victory. The judge said the Republican may appear for the sentencing, which will take place just 10 days before his inauguration, either in-person or virtually.

Judge Merchan wrote that a sentence of "unconditional discharge" — meaning no custody, monetary fine, or probation — would be "the most viable solution".

In response, Trump reiterated his claim that the case should never have been brought, and called the ruling "knowingly unlawful".

"This illegitimate political attack is nothing but a rigged charade," he wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.......

Trump refuses to rule out use of military force to take control of Greenland and Panama Canal.

US president-elect Donald Trump has escalated threats against Canada, Greenland and Panama.

Mr Trump did not rule out military action to secure the Panama Canal, and he warned of economic retribution against neighbouring Canada, in a meandering press conference on Tuesday (local time), a day after Congress certified his election victory.

“I’m not going to commit to that,” Mr Trump responded, after being asked if he would rule out the use of military force to seize control of the Panama Canal and Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark........

Tesla, Musk face $3.2b blow as Trump targets EV subsidies.

Tesla is facing financial trouble under the second Trump administration, despite CEO Elon Musk’s close ties to the incoming president.

JP Morgan analysts have warned the electric vehicle (EV) giant could lose a staggering $3.2 billion if proposed cuts to EV tax credits and subsidies are implemented by Trump.

The financial service firm’s analysts estimate Trump’s plans to eliminate EV tax incentives could slash Tesla’s profit margins by as much as 40 per cent.......

In Germany, the Cassandras are predicting an exodus of our energy-intensive metal industry and especially our chemical industry to those US states that have cheap energy prices... especially since Trump started to threaten most US trade partners with tariffs. Here the Cassandras predict a bonanza period in the US over the next 10 to 20 years due to our industry looking for commercially reasonable conditions abroad. There are a couple more reasons for that from a European perspective (e.g. urgent need for increased defense spending because of the madmen in the Kremlin).

What will actually happen, collapse or bonanza? As always, supposedly something in between...

Donny's drunken little buddy, Rudolf, just doesn't learn so a bit of jail time might do him the world of good (just like it would Donny).

Giuliani held in contempt for repeating false claims about 2020 election workers.

Rudy Giuliani has been held in contempt of court for the second time this week in the case brought by two US election workers he falsely accused of helping to rig the 2020 presidential poll.

The former lawyer for president-elect Donald Trump violated a previous court agreement to stop making allegations of wrongdoing against the Georgian election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, US District Judge Beryl Howell found.

"It is outrageous and shameful that Mr Giuliani dares to suggest that he is the one who is being treated unfairly," Judge Howell said in Washington as she handed down the ruling.

Judge Howell found that Mr Giuliani violated the court agreement when he suggested on an episode of his America's Mayor Live podcast in November that video showed the pair "quadruple counting the ballots" and using a computer hard drive to "fix the machines".

The judge required Mr Giuliani to submit a court document within 10 days acknowledging that testimony and evidence presented during his civil trial in 2023 directly contradicted his statements.

Mr Giuliani would also have to pay attorney's fees and face a $US200 ($325.47) fine each day he did not file the court declaration, Judge Howell said......

Well this was no surprise.

Trump engaged in 'criminal effort' to overturn 2020 election, report finds.

US special counsel Jack Smith found president-elect Donald Trump engaged in an unprecedented criminal effort to overturn his 2020 election defeat, according to a report released by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The report details Mr Smith's decision to bring a four-count indictment against Trump, accusing him of plotting to obstruct the collection and certification of votes following his 2020 defeat by Democratic President Joe Biden.

It concludes that the evidence would have been enough to convict Trump at trial, but his imminent return to the presidency on January 20 makes that impossible.

The DOJ's "view that the Constitution prohibits the continued indictment and prosecution of a President is categorical and does not turn on the gravity of the crimes charged, the strength of the Government's proof, or the merits of the prosecution, which the Office stands fully behind", the report said......

He can't wear a mask, it traps the odor from his rectal cranial inversion so he can't stand the smell.

I bet that he was disappointed with that news at not being able to improve on his last effort, but he may have a plan to fill that mall as yet.

Trump sending 200 cops into city, major raid.

Incoming US President Donald Trump will launch a “large-scale immigration raid” in Chicago within hours of his inauguration, according to US media.

Citing “four people familiar with the planning” of the raid, The Wall Street Journal reports that Mr Trump will kick off his mass deportation campaign on Tuesday morning US time – a day after he officially takes over the top job.

The raid is expected to last all week, and up to 200 officers will be deployed to carry out the mission.......

.....According to the WSJ, Mr Trump’s team “had been contemplating cities to target in a day-one operation as a way of making an example of so-called sanctuary cities, which adopt policies limiting co-operation with federal immigration authorities”.

Chicago was selected for two reasons – the high number of immigrant targets living there, as well as Mr Trump’s well-known stoush with mayor Brandon Johnson.......

......It is understood other major US cities including New York, Los Angeles, Denver and Miami are also in the Trump administration’s firing line, with the Chicago raid simply “phase one” of his plan......
