Message 2060741 - Posted: 6 Nov 2020, 11:13:20 UTC - in response to Message 2060738.

Items 1 & 2 sound a bit of an own-goal on behalf of the t.Rump team.

The actual process of counting (in the UK with the joy of having no voting machines)...
I've witnessed a count in a local election here in the UK, talk about boring, rows of people emptying boxes and tipping them onto tables, another group of people unfolding the papers (it's incredible how inventive people are in folding a relativity small bit of paper are), more people checking for "spoiled" papers and papers that might need closer scrutiny, then finally those doing the actual counting, then people tallying up the votes (each counter keeps an individual count, but doesn't know where their bundle sits in the whole).
Much the same process was being followed for the postal votes - envelopes opened by one team, another team checking the contents, opening and unfolding the inner envelope then feeding the papers into the main counting stream.
Then finally the candidates, or their nominated representatives, are shown the results and given a chance to request a re-count (a recount is automatic if any one of a number of conditions are satisfied - e.g. the number of spoiled papers exceeds the winning margin; or the winning margin is below a certain level). What amazed me, but really shouldn't have, was the number of people involved even for a ward level local council election, so I can see in an election that has an unexpectedly high number of postal votes can upset the calculation for the number of people required and where they allocated in the room.

Breaking Biden pulls ahead in Pennsylvania

We've just heard an update from election officials in Pennsylvania.
Biden has taken the lead over Trump by 5,587 votes, with 95% of the state's precincts reporting.
The state could hand him the 270 electoral college votes needed to win.
Just wondering how long will the Bimbo's next TV speech be & how long on air before it gets pulled. :-)

How long before he goes off the deep end and gets the 25th?

Hilarious. :-)
As Team Trump prepares to launch a slew of legal challenges to election results, they are expected to name David Bossie,
the president's 2016 deputy campaign manager, to lead the fight, NBC and the New York Times report.

Bossie is a seasoned hand at political fighting. Since 2000, he has been president of the lobby group Citizens United.
Under his watch, that conservative group secured a landmark Supreme Court ruling granting corporations the same free-speech rights as individuals
- and saying these right could be exercised through political donations.
It had been reported that the president's close circle of advisers were looking for someone to lead their legal challenge.
The team were said to want someone like James Baker, a lawyer and senior Republican figure who led the George W Bush team in the 2000 Florida recount.

Bossie is not a lawyer - he dropped out of university to get a head start in politics - but he has all the characteristics
the Trump camp seems to appreciate: outspokenness, pugnaciousness and a flare for messaging.
He briefly fell out with the Trump camp last year over a funding scandal - but, if reports prove correct - would seem to be back in the fold.

Donald Trump is angry and disappointed that few allies are coming out in his support on TV or in the streets, sources close to the president have told CBS News.
They say he has been watching a lot of TV, making calls, and dividing his time on Friday between the Oval Office and the residence.

While the Trump campaign is highlighting its legal fight, there is no clear strategy. Some aides recognise that all this should have been thought out months ago,
but nobody wanted to have this conversation with the president.
As for next steps in litigation, unless something significant is uncovered in another big state, it all comes down to Pennsylvania.
If the margin is close enough, a successful Supreme Court challenge could help Trump.

If the margin of victory is big enough for Biden, the Pennsylvania case will not matter.
This is what his legal team reportedly is focusing their efforts on right now.

I bet he regrets using Twitter.
An old tweet by Donald Trump, in which the US president claimed that “one must be able to lose with dignity”, has resurfaced tonight.
The message, published shortly after Trump was elected president in 2016, endorsed a comment made by Vladimir Putin about Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party.
It reads: “Vladimir Putin said today about Hillary and Dems: ‘In my opinion, it is humiliating. One must be able to lose with dignity.’ So true!”
The tweet - initially published on December 24, 2016 - has been widely shared on social media, with people pointing out that Trump should now accept it is unlikely he will win a second term in the White House as Biden is edging closer to victory.

While so many in his party are now distancing themselves from Delusional Donny it's also being rumoured that Putin maybe having the onset of Parkinson disease and may have to retire.

I won't mention anything about Putin's left arm always being pictured of late in his coat pocket while in public or where it's supposedly been inserted the last 4 years as that would be classed as "Trumpism", or a statement made with no actual facts being involved, but then again it might have been a side effect of the steroids. ;-)

I would assume that he actually meant "My opponents must loose in dignity, for me to loose is an oxymoron". Only he doesn't know the word "oxymoron".

Hate to admit this, but it actually appears that Donald Trump and Jr. were correct after all that armed partisans were trying to insert fake ballots in one of states still counting... thank goodness it has been foiled:

Fake ballots, Q Anon, and a Virginia senator: “Alarming” incident prompts gun charges for men outside Philly vote-counting center

Speaking during a Friday afternoon press conference, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said Thursday, the FBI’s field office in Norfolk heard "individuals were en route from Virginia Beach to Philadelphia in a Silver Hummer truck, and were in possession of weapons and ammunition.”
...
Officers then searched the Hummer. Inside, they found another gun, an AR-15-style rifle, plus ammunition. The car itself was plastered with bumper stickers supporting the far-right Q Anon conspiracy theory.
...
The Hummer turned up that afternoon, parked outside the Philadelphia Convention Center. Inside, thousands of ballots were being counted in the ongoing Presidential race.
...
According to a release from Philadelphia Police, both men were charged with having a “concealed firearm without a license, a third-degree felony.” At an arraignment hearing Friday evening, prosecutors said both men were concerned about the ballots being counted at the convention center, and were “coming to deliver a truck full of fake ballots to Philly," according to CBS Philly.

Help me out, please. If QAnon members were delivering a sack of fake ballot papers to a counting centre, whose name would they appear to support? Biden or Trump? Should we be chanting "Stop the Count" or "Count the Vote"?

Yes, I have googled that Virginia senator's name. So read the above with a note of irony in you voice ;-)

QAnon is a far-right conspiracy theory alleging that a cabal of Satan-worshipping pedophiles is running a global child sex-trafficking ring and plotting against US President Donald Trump, who is fighting the cabal.

That should clear things up. :^)

Why does it always have to include supposed/imagined/unreal threats against peoples' religions, cults, and children?...

Hopefully people have long ago become wise against such baseless random silly incitement to try to get people to hate everyone else?

All in a very strange unhealthy political 'game'?

All a 'game' and people be damned??! (To highlight a common phrase!!)

ROFLMAO.

However, if Biden passes away during his term, will America be ready for the 1st black female president?

Well, hopefully Biden will stay young for the job and for the entire term.

And wasn't there a good old American Star Trek film made where the President was very Oriental looking and called Chang?...

The whole idea of a democracy is that all people are equal and all are equally able to become President! That's an excellent idea that everyone should defend!

Here's watching the next moves...

This is very much looking like the Trump end-game...

Here's a very interesting take about Fox News:

'That's not true': Fox News reporter fact-checks host on air

There is some good commentary given there.

Indeed, here's hoping that Trump can rediscover himself to be gracious to be able to concede the election with good grace.

Here's hoping for a reunified, rejuvenated, reunited USA!
