Oh no! :-( Philadelphia Zoo officials say dye may have killed its five meerkats. In less than two weeks, all five of the Philadelphia Zoo’s meerkats died. Now, the zoo needs to find out why. That's so sad. |

Did a web search on the dye because that name seems familiar and sadly, I was right. Sun 16 Jun 2019 01.00 EDT Seven baby monkeys died from poisoning at US research center The young macaques died after their mothers were marked with dye at the University of California, Davis, primate research laboratory. |

What were they expecting? Netflix film crew attacked by huge sharks near Hawaii while shooting nature show: ‘Like something out of Jaws’ A Netflix documentary film crew had a scary encounter on the waters of the Pacific Ocean north of Hawaii when the blow-up boats they were floating in were attacked by 15-foot Tiger sharks, according to reports. |

3 very lucky lost visitors. Lost Fiordland penguins found in Esperance, far from New Zealand breeding site, raise concerns for seabirds. Though I'm not surprised that they wound up here as there's been some very intense interaction going on between the Roaring Forties and the Furious Fifties of late. Sadly what isn't know is how many perished along the way. :-( |

Touching moment chimp sees outdoors for the first time Vanilla, a 28-year-old chimpanzee, had never been outside of a cage or enclosure. She is one of the surviving chimps from the New York-based Laboratory for Experimental Medicine & Surgery in Primates (LEMSIP). Vanilla and her sister, Shake, have a new island home at Save the Chimps in Fort Pierce, Florida. |

Woops! It's back to the drawing board for these dam builders. See a Beaver Dam Collapse and Instantly Drain the Massive Pond It Had Built. There have been some devasting dam collapses in human history. Most notable, perhaps, was the failure of the South Fork Dam near Johnstown, Pennsylvania in May 1889. Its collapse released 20 million tons of water, sand and debris which flattened buildings in its path killing over 2,000 people.Cheers. |

Orca's revenge? Why killer whales won’t stop ramming boats in Spain All of the encounters involve some combination of the same roughly 15 animals, which have sunk three vessels and disabled dozens more. |

Obviously they havn't been looking around for them at the top of the hill from there. Sightings of critically endangered regent honeyeater in NSW give conservationists hope. Every season since I moved here these make a racket fighting over rights on my Chinese Creeper Vine. Cheers. |

Obviously they havn't been looking around for them at the top of the hill from there. Perhaps you should contact "them" and tell them about all the honeyeaters around your house. ~Sue~ ![]() |

Really? Lock the bins and clean up after the kids. They tell us here in bear country to get locking bins, because once the food source is gone, so is the issue. |

They're going plague on us again with yet another drought looming. :-( Kangaroos damage Victorian cattle farmer's property as numbers 'boom' across state. And it's not just happening down there either as plenty of roos and wallabies have been moving through this village of a night time of late as well and the climbing number of road kills along the highway are also a testament to the growing problem (especially with the lack of food for them around here after all these frosts). [edit] And then there's another debate on another growing problem with another member of our wildlife. Northern Territory crocodile culling was banned in 1971. Should it be reintroduced following an attack at Litchfield National Park? |

Saving our seahorses. Record release of baby seahorses set to boost Sydney Harbour's endangered population. Marine scientists say they have successfully completed the world's biggest release of seahorses as part of efforts to boost the population of the endangered White's seahorse in Sydney Harbour. Cheers. |
