okay!!! https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/23/politics/ufo-reports-pentagon/index.html Pentagon announces plans to streamline UFO reports and analysis The Department of Defense announced its plans to streamline the collection and analysis of UFO reports across the government Tuesday, following the government's acknowledgment earlier this year that these reports are worth studying and may pose a national security threat. |

Me, I am for cutting government waste. This would be a good place to start. Just what exactly is the perceived National security threat. Put these putzes on a program to intercept and remove threats of larger asteroids that just might hit our beloved Earth. There is the real threat my friends. |

okay!!! Thanks, Lynn, I hadn't seen that story. We've certainly come a long way in the past five decades! Back then, Dr. Edward Condon wrote that there was no need to study UFOs any further. He headed a scientific committee that examined the phenomenon for the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Condon concluded that Earth-bound explanations were sufficient to fully explain UFOs. His conclusions didn't follow from the evidence the study collected. This was realized by some, even at that time. Skeptics of UFOs often cite Condon's conclusion, without considering its evidence, as a whole. It seems that those long-lost chickens have finally come home to roost! |

WASHINGTON — The U.S. government is finally getting back into the UFO business. And depending on which UFO believer you ask, it's either a historic step forward to getting to the bottom of conspiracies or a ploy to regain control of the narrative — and possibly even prepare for interplanetary war. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/disclosure-or-deception-new-ufo-pentagon-office-divides-believers-n1287199 Disclosure or deception? New UFO Pentagon office divides believers No problem Michael. Don't follow this stuff much anymore. |

The U.S. government's recent revelations about its military encounters with UFOs has sparked new respect for the subject, and interest by the scientific community, at large. The trend now is to examine the phenomenon with scientific precision and advanced instrumentation. The goal is to learn all we can about the nature and meaning of the UFOs, not excluding any potential explanation, including the extraterrestrial one.It is proposed to share the results of this inquiry with the scientific community, and the public. It appears that we have some very interesting days ahead of us, in the near future. A substantial article on this, from the respectable science news source, Space.com, is linked below: https://www.space.com/2022-turning-point-study-ufos-uap |

The USA will shoot God should he/she/it have the temerity to make an appearance? Only in the USA! The "nonsense" keeps appearing for the same reason as the concept of a God, still exists all over the world. Yes of course you are right--it is a de-facto religion. |

Actually, very few persons interested in the subject of UFOs consider it a religion, or treat it as such. To suggest otherwise is to invoke an invalid 'straw man' argument. This is where a misleading stereotype of something you wish to condemn is cooked up, and substituted for the real thing. This 'straw man' is then easily knocked to pieces. which proves exactly nothing. Does anyone really imagine that the U.S. Military establishment, and growing number in the scientific community, in taking up the serious study of the UFO phenomenon, have suddenly abandoned their principles of probity, sobriety, and care, and taken up a 'UFO religion'? Besides this, the gratuitous explicit and implicit insults to religious belief in general is distasteful, I wouldn't be surprised if it also contravened the rules we all agree to, in participating in this forum. |

Je m'excuse pour mon comportement. Your exceptions, as always, have been noted. You gave a good scold and it is important for us Philistines to listen to an arbiter of good taste in our non-PC ramblings on our PC's. |

Redacted classified UFO report reveals new info on 'shapes,' investigation into 'unexplained' phenomena A classified government report on "Unexplained Aerial Phenomena" shows the U.S. is investigating the shapes of objects sometimes seen by military pilots, and reveals details of the plan to investigate them. A highly redacted version of the report, provided to Congress last June, was published this week by Freedom of Information Act activist John Greenewald on his website The Black Vault. A shorter public version of the report was published around the same by the director of national intelligence (DNI). The longer declassified version published by The Black Vault closely mirrors that report but with additional specific details, especially about the shapes of the "Unexplained Aerial Phenomena" (UAP). https://www.foxnews.com/politics/redacted-classified-us-ufo-report |
