For those with access to the Discovery Channel, I just learned that a 3- hour special presentation on the UAP Report to Congress will be aired, starting at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. They will have a live panel of experts analyze, discuss, and interpret the Report. There seems to have been very little advance publicity about this program, as I literally heard of it only moments ago, and by chance.

So... What did I see?

From the clips shown, I saw (in no particular order) what looked to me to be:

• Birds flying over the sea;
  
• An aircraft shadow on clouds;
  
• Aircraft lights in poor viz or otherwise partially obscured;
  
• Debris in front of an optical view that was eventually cleared;
  
• Out-of-focus bright light optical effect (for the green triangle, you can see multiple internal reflections within the optics);
  
• And then there is the clearly faked/forged fun!
  

My favorite is still:

That one actually did hit the news!

I was sitting outside waiting fO my Ride to go Fishing back in Mid 60s and Saw what I hoped fo years to be ET Craft movin' off and away.
However as time went on and Sightings or All were Rockets in Flight from Wallops Island. Bummer Man.

Also Way Back while in dA Navy went from Singapore to Long Beach Non-Stop, All Ocean No Land. Took 21 Days. I Wasted Opportunity and spent No time during Day or Night Lookin'. Basically stayed below deck. ET wasn't on My Mind. Still Night time Must of had some Beautiful Starry Viewing. Never impressed with Gray Ocean 360 to Horizon.

The U.S. Navy, and the Office of National Intelligence, with all their intelligence gathering and analytical expertise, will, no doubt, have considered all the ordinary explanations proposed, before they settled on the 'unexplained' option.

How much better, from their point of view, to be able to sew up everything with tidy, believable, mundane explanations, rather than admit that they can not explain or understand what has been seen!

Failure to explain, let alone control what could very well be incursions by mysterious flying machines with extraordinary capabilities must worry and embarrass them. Under the circumstances, their frankness and probity in this matter are admirable.

The recently released UAP Report to Congress has been characterized as 'preliminary'. The Pentagon and National Intelligence have specifically promised to continue and improve their studies of UAPs, and to offer more information in the not-too-distant future.

Besides the Navy, the United States Air Force has recently revived their publicly expressed interest in these elusive objects. The head of NASA has pledged to bring their scientific expertise to bear on the phenomenon, too. This is something quite new for them, and rather surprising.

At least the publicly released version of the report makes no conclusions at all about UAPs, merely listing an all- inclusive set of possible explanations. The stage has been set for whatever they know now, or may learn in the future, being released gradually to the public.

If I were in their place I might even act similarly. After well over half a century of belittling the phenomenon, suddenly coming out with all they know or reasonably infer about UAPs might be too shocking to too many people. People appear to love their complacency and stability.

Setting up this artificial time frame of 2004 to the present, and ignoring the masses of UFO reports from the previous decades may be a way of trying to reframe the narrative about the government's past approach to UFOs. If they can come back later, with some real, honest conclusions, and say -- 'we've been diligently studying UAPs since 2004, and now, here is what we conclude about them, this would improve their credibility considerably. People often have short memories.

UAPs have been chased by military planes and fired upon . They have not, as far as I can ascertain, retaliated. Their presence has been noted for decades, but we have not been invaded or attacked. I am far less concerned about what extraterrestrials would do to us, than in how some people would react to the inescapable knowledge of their presence at Earth.

It seems a reasonable surmise that the gradually increasing presence of UAPs, and of the theme of extraterrestrial intelligence on our planet are parts of a carefully orchestrated program, on their part, of preparing us for overt contact.

I suppose that such extraterrestrials are part of a polity that has contacted other naive planets, like our own. They have presumably become quite expert in judging their audiences, and proceeding accordingly. A rather high degree of xenophobia has to be overcome. This is exemplified by the way nations on our own planet sometimes hate and mistrust one another.

Where are they from --how did they get here. What do they eat and drink, Where are their farms --Why no chatter among them. Why no sonic boom. Where do they hide when no one is seeing them, what do they want
?

Since there are no answers to these questions they do not exist --Ne Pas ?

Of what is it made? particles? Just what particles? Or some kind of mysterious fluid? What kind of fluid?

Assuming it's particles--Is dark matter all made of the same kind of particles, or different kinds?

Do dark matter particles interact with one another, or not?

Do dark matter particles form larger structures, like dark matter atoms or molecules?

Has dark matter always existed, or did it come into existence well after the beginning of the observable universe?

Does dark matter decay, or is it stable?

Since there are no answers to these questions, dark matter must not exist. Non est Verum?

Yes I kind of think that dark matter does not exist--or if it does then it is an infinitely large number of neutrinos--perhaps 40 electron volts each.
Now for dark energy --you would have to prove to me that the Universe is expanding rather than contracting.

There is scientific consensus that dark matter exists, and that the universe is expanding. It appears to me that both are correct. You apparently seriously doubt both of these propositions. That, of course, is your right.

There is, at least a publicly expressed, consensus among scientists that Earth is not being visited by extraterrestrials. I very seriously doubt that proposition. It seems that we are each dissenters from scientific orthodoxy, each in his own way.

It has often been observed that rational, honest persons may look at the same evidence, and reach very different conclusions. And so it is in our cases.

Ordinary matter is made up from protons, neutrons and electrons. While the electron is a true elementary particle, both protons and neutrons are made up from some smaller constituents called quarks or partons. Nobody has seen a single quark or parton so they are not elementary particles. I thus believe that dark matter is not made up from elementary particles (WIMPs or something else). Maybe it consists of a quark-gluon plasma.
