Peak day. When a day is declared by the electric company (100°f plus heat index) I work 7pm - 4:30am.
It costs more to produce electricity during peak periods, from 2-7 p.m., M-F. So, in the summer when you shift some of your electricity use to the other 19 hours of the day, plus every weekend and national hoilday, you can cut your energy costs considerably.

As a guidance - Vic's post #2055052 is at the limit of acceptability, as is Carlos post #2055069. Neither discusses the dollars, just a dream, a problem and a potential solution to that problem.
(I would love to have a roof that would support that array of panels, and be in a location where they would see enough of the sun to make them viable....)
