Very annoying, sing-song voice of the narrator. |

Yes. John Michael Godier has a very odd way to speak:) I have seen some other youtube clips him speaking. But apart from that he is interesting and letting other scientists talk. |

Yes. John Michael Godier has a very odd way to speak:) I have seen some other youtube clips him speaking. But apart from that he is interesting and letting other scientists talk.He has an atmospheric voice that gives his channel a special aura (something I personally prefer in Twilight Zone or X-Files contexts : ) Another voice which makes me cringe even more is Anton Petrov's, but he will be forgiven as English is obviously not his first language, and he covers very competently the various topics he chooses to discuss. But regarding the word hiberation on the front page, just don't ask me about it. Anton Petrov - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCciQ8wFcVoIIMi-lfu8-cjQ Anton Petrov - New Study Suggests 36 Alien Civilizations In The Milky Way, But... - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcbQ3Gspyyo (I like Seth Shostak's reaction to the same study :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atGYcD7Y4Xk ) |

Right-on !!. My own musings about the probability of occurrence of conditions essential for sentient life put my lower limit at perhaps five such civilizations that would be able to be heard if the time/space numbers were right. Good to hear that astronomers are no longer predicting "billions and billions". Rest in Peace Carl Sagan |

Rest in Peace Carl SaganAs you probably suspected he never said that, but his last book did discuss it. In the Billions department, Carl Sagan would have been dethroned since then, anyway... |

Wiggo, call me delusional but I happen to agree with Bones' statement that "It's hiberating, it not hibernating, Jim!"While contributing to Covid-19 projects, in a way of speaking I'm still here waiting for (SETI-related) work, too (occasionally pulling some legs in the process ^^) -- Still here waiting for workDon't you read the news notices? ;-) Apr 3, 1999 - May 3, 2020 |

A SETI Search of 10 Million Star Systems https://www.centauri-dreams.org/2020/09/09/a-seti-search-of-10-million-star-systems/ The coming SKA (...) could be available later in this decade, would extend the SETI search into billions of star systems, and would be capable of detecting what Tingay calls “Earth-like radio signals” from relatively nearby planetary systems leakage radiation as opposed to directed signals designed to be interstellar.SquareKilometreArray on Twitter: "Listen to @SKA_DG Prof. Philip Diamond discussing radio astronomy and all things SKA on the @NakedScientists podcast (where) he explains how astronomers will use the SKA to understand how the first stars and galaxies formed https://t.co/xq3WKPXJFp" / Twitter https://twitter.com/SKA_telescope/status/1306941712179306496 Direct link https://www.thenakedscientists.com/articles/interviews/biggest-ever-telescope |
