It's so telling that he would espouse this, given that he lost the popular vote, and the last president before him that did was IMHO still the worst president ever: George W. Bush. Before that we have to go back 130 years to find the next one. Every other president, Republican or Democrat, was able to win the popular vote ie won with more votes than their opponent so was unambiguously the actual winner without needing an electoral college "victory".

Thus I interpret his quote as: “if you ever agreed to it you’d never have a Republican ME elected in this country again.”

Old v2.0 just doesn't learn as he did this blame game 2 years ago.

He cut funding from the US Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management and the National Parks Service agencies at the beginning of his term who have control of about 50% of all forested land in those western states (where most of these fires occur), the states themselves only control a small fraction of that (12% or less) with the rest of it in private hands, so by all rights he is to blame for these fires and not the states yet he still blatantly ignores these facts just to try and score brownie points for himself. :-(
