Top officials in the White House were aware in early 2019 of classified intelligence indicating Russia was secretly offering bounties to the Taliban for the deaths of Americans, a full year earlier than has been previously reported, according to U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the intelligence.
Trump was claiming ignorance of Russia’s provocations to justify his administration’s lack of response.

Trump moved part of the Republican convention from Charlotte, NC, to Jacksonville, FL because of social distancing and mask wearing. So I guess he's not too happy that Jacksonville has now ordered a face mask requirement for public and indoor locations and where social distancing is not possible.

As Trump still tries to cripple obamacare*, Voters in deep-red Oklahoma approve Medicaid expansion

(CNN)Oklahoma voters decided Tuesday that the deep-red state should expand Medicaid to low-income residents.
The ballot initiative, which began long before the coronavirus pandemic but took on increased urgency amid the outbreak, passed narrowly with a majority of 50.5%, a margin of about 1 percentage point.
It calls for enshrining Medicaid expansion in the state constitution. The goal is to prevent legislators from enacting rules that could make it more difficult to qualify for coverage, such as work requirements -- a tool favored by President Donald Trump and many Republicans to shrink the program.

Nearly 200,000 low-income adult residents are expected to gain health insurance. Expansion is also estimated to bring a little more than $1 billion additional federal funds annually to Oklahoma, said Amber England, the initiative's campaign manager. The state will have to pick up 10% of the cost.
Oklahoma becomes the fifth state run by Republicans to approve expansion, a provision of the Affordable Care Act, at the ballot box. Maine was the first, in 2017, followed by Nebraska, Utah and Idaho a year later.

Now Trump is planning to visit Mount Rushmore on Friday to kick off Independence Day weekend with a glitzy fireworks display and a military flyover — and has run into strife and contention over his decision to celebrate at a national landmark built on land stolen from Native Americans at the same time the country is reassessing the offensiveness of such monuments.

In the days before his visit, some Native American leaders called for destruction of the massive sculpture — built in the Black Hills on land taken from the Lakota tribe to honor several presidents they say were hostile to Indigenous people.

And protesters are expected to greet Trump on his trip and express Native Americans’ broader grievances. Tribal leaders have criticized the president for what they describe as harmful policies, delayed and watered-down measures to help their community and his offensive language.
