... Has COVID fried whatever brains he had left?

He may be additionally suffering delirium from lack of sleep and low blood oxygen...

I wonder what the psychoanalysts can pull out of his twitterings?...

Summarizing the disgust:

The defining moment of the Trump presidency
wrote:
What, four years ago, would potentially have been regarded as the defining moment of the Trump presidency?...

... None of those things, of course, has come to pass.

Instead, future historians of Donald Trump's first - and possibly final - term in the White House will regard the coronavirus crisis as its defining event and the president's contraction of Covid 19 as its culminating moment.

Now we have pictures that will forever mark this strange, near-dystopian, chapter in the American story...

... But how did those words sound to doctors and nurses just about to commence their night shifts in the hospitals treating patients? How would they have been met by public health officials on the president's own team who have urged people to wear masks and who are presently charting more than 40,000 new cases each day? How would that rousing speech have been received by relatives mourning the dead?

Also, it is worth bearing in mind the backdrop for his speech - a White House that has become a Covid hotspot...

... Many of the Democratic voters I spoke to in Michigan the next morning thought it was a ruse to distract from his debate performance...

... In a presidency where fact-checkers have chronicled more than 20,000 falsehoods, many Americans no longer trust what their government is telling them. That is hugely problematic. A healthy democracy needs to be grounded in truth, but there are times when this country feels like it is fast becoming a confederacy of conspiracy theorists...

... he is trailing a long way behind in the polls and running out of time to make a political recovery.

Covid: White House aide tests positive as military leaders quarantine

Covid-19 is spreading further among those around US President Donald Trump, with White House adviser Stephen Miller and a top military official infected...

And the Trump story can twist and twitter in any direction yet...

How many more people are to die under Trump?

then wouldn't the Election have to be cancelled?

No, the election must take place, the College of Electors must vote in December* and the inauguration must take place at 12 noon EST on the 20th of Jan.
* That's the excuse that was used to call the "hanging chads" vote to a close.

edit] And I forgot if Trump snuffs it, Pence might not be on the ticket.

Observers on both sides of the Atlantic are saying that Trump's behaviour has become increasingly erratic over the last few weeks and days. They seem to think that it is a combination of the virus effects, and nervousness about the forthcoming election.
Other commentators are saying that moods swings and chemical 'highs' are a common side-effect of some of the drugs he has been taking - notably hormones like Dexamethasone.

He certainly sounds as if he's on 'uppers' - which is ironic, given that he accused Joe Biden of being on drugs before the debate.

From what I know of the US (presidential) electoral system, once the candidates have been announced (and the first votes cast?) the election has to go ahead with the dates inscribed in law. If a candidate dies during the "election period" then those votes are either discarded or not counted, leaving the surviving candidate with the greatest number of votes (in the electoral college) the winner. As far as I understand the nomination is for both president PLUS vice-president, not a pick and mix for the two posts, thus the death of one of the pair removes the surviving half of the pair from the running.

Like you I think that, in the event of being trumped in both popular and college vote Trump will do his utmost to hang on in there, or at the very least make sure that there is such a mess to clear up it will be very unpleasant for Biden in the first few months.

I see DT's yellow stripe is now visible:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2020-54465139

Like many bullies and thugs he refuses to come out and face his opponent on anything other than his own terms. It would serve him right if he was "empty chaired" in the debate, and questions addressed to him were met with a resounding silence followed by words along the lines "Mr Trump is incapable of answering the question".

The US election system for president is 51 election systems. 50 run by the states and one run by the House. In many of the 50 once the ballots have been printed no changes can be made. (Ballots have been printed.) In the rest the party can designate a new person to replace the name printed on the ballot. Almost all require the voters selected in that election to vote for the candidate they are pledged to in the state election. SCOTUS only this year said criminal sanctions are permitted to ensure this. House has to certify the votes. If no qualified candidate has a majority House must pick from the top three qualified candidates. I'd think being alive would be a qualification. In that case, no King Donald, the rest of the qualified candidate list would be Joe Biden and names from faithless electors. Rinse and repeat for Veep and that easily would mean Biden/Pence.

PS, my vote is already in.

Beautifully 'diplomatic' and to the point:

... Separately on Wednesday Dr Atherton warned people in Wales not to follow coronavirus messages from Mr Trump.

At a press conference the chief medical officer hoped "most people in Wales don't take President Trump as their guide to how to deal with coronavirus".

"I think people are perhaps a little more thoughtful than that," he added...

Somewhere between Genghis Khan and King Canute. Both believed they could command both the world and nature, both learned that was not possible.

As Sirius said "What's wrng with America?"

Anyone got an answer, and more to the point a solution?

I'm not sure anybody has the time or the energy to answer that in the next six months;-)

Trump is fine. Even if you detest his policies.
The one who's cheese has really slid off their cracker is Pelosi.
She should be removed from public office immediately.
And possibly tried for sedition.

One of the instigator-in-chief's terrorist groups in Michigan, have just been taken down by the FBI, and the state police. They planned amongst other terrorist actions, to kidnap the governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer.

Planning to start a civil war, is another charge, but there are more charges.

I can see their confession now, "We got a coded message from the President to do it." He said it was open season on Democrats.

So when did Trump have a test to say he is no longer infectious? There is no answert from the White House or his doctor.
And those antibodies his doctor said are in Trump's system are not ones produced by his body, they are the remnants of the an emergency cocktail of anti-coronavirus antibodies made by Regeneron.

We have no proof that it is safe to be near Trump, or when it will be.
