Well, hold off on the end of crunching for me. I just had over 150 WUs downloaded to the one machine that is still crunching. That will keep it busy for a while longer. Anyone else? Sorry about that. The machine that is running these isn't the fastest on the planet, that's for certain. Oh well. Everything else is crunching for PrimeGrid (lots of points), including a new laptop that has 8 cores and each core is completing a WU every 40-50 minutes. It's RAC should wind up exceeding the others combined. Too bad PrimeGrid doesn't take advantage of a GPU like SETI did. ![]() |

No probs, I was just venting :) It seems to be one of those rules like Murphy's Law, the slowest machines are the most likely to get the any new work. If you are looking to utilise your GPUs then you might look at E@H, many SETI Orphans have taken refuge there. Stephen :) |

24h time between connections now? Guess that's to make sure any resends that are somehow left get spread out among the active hosts? Otherwise, my last inconclusive validated, but still have 57 in progress. Checking now, 18 of them still lack a canonical result. Still some 3h for me to clear that MilkyWay@home queue that's about to expire, just squeezed a few more S@h ones in, will get to the rest after. Will try to do the needed ones first. And good to know results will be accepted to the end. Canceling tasks on the server would have been a nasty way to finish it, and the way the end was announced didn't do much for PR to begin with, this would have just made it that much worse. Do think that the deadline for resends should have been set to a week though. |

24h time between connections now? I just got that here too......was wondering why the heck Boinc was doing that. Must have just been changed server side. Meow. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

I get 14 minutes and a few seconds between attemps, 14 min and 24 sec is the amount over 24h (1% of 24h, seems like the time's always set like that, desired amount +1%). Guess you're not seeing the full day for some reason? We're on the same BOINC version though, so you should if I do, I'm thinking. |

It is a sad day... I'm finally in the acceptance phase of the grief. Thanks to all of you who chatted with me on the boards. I'll check in from time to time to see what is going on. I hope to see you all on other boards on other projects. |

Yep.I get 24 hours now, after the second attempt.I get 14 minutes and a few seconds between attemps,14 min and 24 sec is the amount over 24h (1% of 24h, seems like the time's always set like that, desired amount +1%). Guess you're not seeing the full day for some reason? We're on the same BOINC version though, so you should if I do, I'm thinking. Looks like that's it for Seti. Been over a week since i last got anything, and with 24hr backoffs between requests it's not likely i'll be seeing any work in the future either. Grant Darwin NT |

Sad day indeed. All my hosts are in a 24 hour backoff now, though I haven't received any tasks for a while. Guess its time to hit the detach button. |

It looks like it's over here, nothing in progress, nothing pending and my last inconclusive cleared. |

I have uploaded now my last work units. For me it was a question of honor to not abort them. There are a lot of space related projects that i will support now more in the future (Einstein, Universe, Asteroids, Milkyway) and of course at the moment everything that is related to the COVID-19 (Folding, Rosetta, OpenPandemic(WCG, coming next). |

I had trouble, I couldn't get Rosetta and E@H to play nice together, but WCG seems to be friendlier with E@H so I am now running the two projects. WCG is CPU based and I am running E@H only on the GPU. Stephen :) |

Stephen, Those are my two projects for right now. I may try a few others to see how they run on my gear. . . I am curious about Milky Way. I am not sure exactly what their objective is. . . Maybe I will look more into that sometime. Stephen :) |

I have been running more tha 40000 Milkyway@home tasks since I joined Science United, both CPU and GPU. I think they are searching for dark matter in the spiral arms of the Galaxy. Recently i have been running Einstein@home Gravitational Waves 02 GPU tasks and they all failed because the video RAM of my GTX 1060 board is 3 GB and these tasks need more. By the Einstein message boards I have learned that OpenCL can use no more tha 27% of the total RAM, which in my case is 24 GB. Tullio |

And done with the WUs still lacking a canonical, and just started the one that's only missing my result out of those it was sent to for good measure. From now on, if no more will be coming, just going through what's left for good measure, still be able to say my computer did SETI@home work a couple of days longer, and sure, also get some more credit for it and recover a few more in terms of consecutive valid tasks after that yearly mess fell just at the start of April and really messed things up in my stats. . . I am curious about Milky Way. I am not sure exactly what their objective is. The N-Body part of the project seems the current one and has more explanations in more places, but irrelevant for me as it seems to be 64-bit only, so not getting any. The Separation part was the original project and according to the science page should have been finished in 2014 or so, but more runs were added after that. Found a post that may explain why and what's still being done. In short, seems like it's mostly testing the oddities in the results to see whether the program is trying to "say" something they hadn't thought of initially. |

That is OpenCl on Nvidia cards can only use about 27% of Video Ram which means on a 3GB card the app can only access about 800MB which may not be enough. It would seem they need more except I have E@H running happily on a GTX950 and a GTX1050 both with 2GB VRAM. E@H tasks do need about 1GB of system RAM as well. Stephen . . |
