My laptop had a Core 2 Duo CPU and an ATI GPU Because I'm a glutton for punishment and love to see what responses I get that make me laugh. lol :D Oh, my bad on the CPU in my laptop. They're both still dual core. I doubt the one I saw can do THAT much more than my laptop did. No hyper-threading... So, answer me this. If there are 2 GPUs and they are fast enough, with a CPU that cannot be running tasks and servicing the 2 GPUs also, they should receive a total of 300 tasks at any given point. How is it that what I saw had 737 downloads today and have over, what was it, 19K tasks in progress? My main does not have a slouch of a GPU, they are both 1660Tis. The most this PC ever had, since they raised the limit, was 450, 300 GPU and 150 CPU. My 8086K is a FAR CRY from a Core 2 Duo. Either there is something wrong with the server software displaying the data or there is some MAJOR cheating going on there somehow. Remember, I don't spoof! By the way, this PC got about 250 to 300 tasks today that I saw. Woohoo! :) No more than 300 at any given time too BTW. CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? Just on the basis on CPU performance, you're comparing a laptop CPU from 2007 with 1MB cache and 1.7GHz clock speed, to a newer generation desktop CPU from 2008 with 6 times the cache and a 3.0 GHz clock speed. it would be more than twice as fast. but he's obviously not using the CPU for processing WUs, so why bother even bring it up. not very logical. but as has been said before many times, a system that is constantly returning work will get more work from the servers than a system that is basically sitting there doing nothing since it is not having regular schedule requests and getting itself into long backoffs. the user in question is not spoofing the GPUs, there are only 2 listed. You know how low in beers i'm here due the lockdown & prohibition. LOL My cache is at 1.5K and after that i will have few GPU`s sitting around making nothing and just wasting electric power. |

My 2500K rig hit the jackpot again receiving 486 tasks while I slept. Cheers. |

I wasn't gonna respond but something just does not jive and I'm the curious sort. First off, yeah, so the Core 2 Duo is twice as fast as my dual core Pentium. I'll give you that. But, the 2 cores are not doing tasks as you also said. And if you would have read my post thoroughly you would have seen where I said that the 2 cores were not doing tasks because they were needed to drive the GPUs. Second, I watched when my main had over 200 GPU tasks and it was going through them like crazy. I saw that SETI had just over 6000 tasks RTS. So, I hit the update button because I had a dozen or so finished tasks. What happened? I was put into a 30 minute comms shutdown and got NOTHING. I reloaded the SSP and the RTS was down to 2 tasks in about a minute! If the scheduler is suspending comms for 30 minutes, how can a PC running tasks as fast as I was be "constantly returning work" and getting the lions share of the tasks? And last, you say the host in question is NOT spoofed. I beg to differ! If it wasn't it would not go over the 300 max tasks for 2 GPUs. I checked and there are now over 20K tasks in progress. Please explain how a "non-spoofed" host is going to go over the 300 max for 2 GPUs. Why does it have 20K+ now in progress? Could it be that the owner has figured out another way of spoofing without increasing the GPU count and still fooling BOINC into thinking there are more GPUs? I'm not a programmer so I would not know if it is even possible. L8er CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. And last, you say the host in question is NOT spoofed. I beg to differ! i don't think you know what spoofing means in this context. does his computer show more devices than he really has? no? then it's not spoofed. If the scheduler is suspending comms for 30 minutes, how can a PC running tasks as fast as I was be "constantly returning work" and getting the lions share of the tasks just bad luck. it happens. better luck next time. Why does it have 20K+ now in progress? Please explain me something, why you are so obsess with this particular host while there are a lot of anonymous hosts who has a lot more WU in their caches and you never say nothing about them? Want an example? https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8873167 It has 28173 WU, received yesterday a lot of resends, nobody knows who his owner and you never say nothing about it. |

I could say with a high confidence he is not a "lion share of the task" and he get 486 WU while he was sleeping! https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=85409&postid=2046407 |

Greetings, . . Hi Siran, you must remember, desktop CPUs use more power and run faster than laptop CPUs and 2 'modern' GPUs can chew through a lot of work 8-} For eg, my Core2Duo with just one GTX1050ti can chew through about 400 -500 tasks per day. But what I don't understand is how anyone is getting 737 tasks in a day, all I get is 'no tasks available'. :( Stephen :( |

My 2500K rig hit the jackpot again receiving 486 tasks while I slept. . . What have I done wrong to offend the server Gods, I still am getting nothing, nada, zilch! Stephen :( |

. . I would have been there for weeks if not for E@H ... I understand you feeling :( Cache at <900 WU (all Arecibo vlars) so i will power down most of the GPU's in a couple of hours leaving only one running in E@H with resource share of 0 while trying to get any resends the servers decide to give me. |

I wasn't gonna respond but something just does not jive and I'm the curious sort. . . That is the part I cannot get around either, with compulsory 30 min backoff how can you get that many resends from batches that are smaller than can be distributed in less than a minute. While others are getting large batches of resends I keep missing the boat :( . . Well I don't know what tricks he is using but he is not spoofing in the original sense because the system is only seeing 2 GPUs and he has 2 GPUs. ? ? ? Stephen < shrug > |

I was about to say that my 3570K rig has had pretty much nothing and then 104 GPU tasks turned up for it, but what can 1 say?My 2500K rig hit the jackpot again receiving 486 tasks while I slept.. . What have I done wrong to offend the server Gods, I still am getting nothing, nada, zilch! [edit] And as I finished this post my 3570K picked up another 216 tasks. Go fast and buy a Lotto ticket. If you win you owe me a trip to Australia to celebrate!. LOLI'll wait for this lock down here to be over 1st before I do the 80km (50 mile) round trip to obtain 1 Juan. ;-) Cheers. |

My 2500K rig hit the jackpot again receiving 486 tasks while I slept. . . A deal is done. If I buy a lottery ticket that wins a major prize I'll spring for the air fares and invite you over to see our lovely beaches. OH wait, first I will have to get a big batch of resends ... sorry dude I don't think that is happening :( Stephen LOL |

When you are in a lucky day you can't loose the opportunity. :) They say today the lockdown here will remain until May 10 at least. And the worst part is: i only have beer until this weekend! So i'm back to the deep web to try to buy some more. I hate this Covid-19! |

OK despite you constantly rubbing salt in my wounds I'll buy a scratchie and post it to you (the advantage of living in the polluted old city) on the proviso that we share the prize (if it's less than $20 don't bother ;-{ ).
