Hello, I just made my account on SETI@home, and installed the client and manager from my distro repositories, but when i try to use it, the manager window just say "Retrieving current status" and seconds later "Unable to connect to the core client". At the botton of the window there is a space for chosing projects, but there is nothing to chose there.

I am using ROSA Desktop Fresh R11 release 2016.1 for x86_64.

Thank you all in advance, and appologies for any english spelling error. [/img]

Usually when BOINC Manager is unable to connect to the core client, it's because the core client isn't there... it's crashed. Check in top if a process called boinc (sometimes called boinc-client) is running. If not, try either of the following before starting BOINC Manager:

sudo systemctl start boinc-client
or
/etc/init.d/boinc-client start

Mind you, if the client isn't running because it crashed last time, it'll probably crash again. You then have to figure out why it crashes.

You can also check if the client is running using
/etc/init.d/boinc-client status
or
sudo systemctl status boinc-client
