Message 2041223 - Posted: 29 Mar 2020, 1:49:37 UTC

It is with tremendous sadness that I report the passing of our friend and former moderator, Jim Scott. Jim's wife just shared with us that Jim passed away this morning, suddenly and unexpectedly, of an apparent heart attack.

His devotion to this project, his warm friendship and his wry sense of humor touched many of us and he will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace, dear friend.

Jim was one of those people that always seemed to be around in our lives.
As a Setizen and a TTFE'er he will be missed.

Jim wrote a bit of poetry.

I think this is a nice one to remember him by:

OPTIMIST

When I Arise each Morning
Another Day to See

I look to find some Simple thing
And spend some time Amazed

May be but a wisp of air
With Scent of flowers in it's grasp

Or Friends that I will never see
That make me Smile or Laugh

The frost upon the windowpanes
The Sunbeams drifting past

So Thankful for the chance to See
The Life out in the Land

And know there still remains the dream
Of Betterment for You and Me

It's then with Thanks I form a Smile
And sometimes Laugh Aloud

At Everything around Me
And Me the small but Proud

Yesterday I received word of two of my Shipmates receiving their Final Orders, and Jim Scott makes 3. And it's a grey gloomy day here in California's Big Valley.

As I recall, Jim was a military veteran, so it seems appropriate to offer him the same tribute I would offer my Shipmates and Comrades:

Our Shipmate, our Friend, has gone from us.
His tour of duty on this Earth has ended, he now serves on the Staff of the Supreme Commander.
No more in this life will we see his smiling face, hear his laugh, share a story or 3.
But we know that, having touched our lives, in large part or small, Jim has left a part of himself with each of us, in our hearts, and in our memories.
And we also know that we will meet again, when our Final Orders are written.
So until then, we Remember.
And we bid Jim not goodbye, but Bon Voyage - Until we meet again.
