Rather cockpit crew not aware of the characteristics of modern high tech cockpit windows which are designed to ... what? save some weight?... or is it just costs?

Reminds me of the reason the Boeing 737 Max 7 and Max 10 still aren't certified for commercial flights.

The decades old, perfectly functioning (low tech... a simple switch only) engine inlet de-freezing system became a major flight safety hazard with modern efficient engines that have all kinds of CFRP plastics in the engine cowling which isn't as durable as the time-proven aluminum when accidentally heated for a longer period of time than necessary.

These modern Boeing 787 jets seem to be faulty by design. There are no other obvious reasons[*]. This almost new plane, owned by Lufthansa, crashed on its nose while parked at the gate.
