I tried my new GPU yesterday and did a little crunching at einstein and Milkyway. It looks like the navi don`t like multiple instances. GPU usage is just 83% at one instance and takes 67 seconds each running Milkyway. Running 2 instances GPU usage is 95% but takes almost 120 seconds so not much benefit. Also the system is getting very laggy. It is similar on einstein. GPU is a Sapphire RX 6600XT Nitro+. with latest drivers. BTW this card is not good for heating the room in winter. It rarly exceeds 65C with fans on auto. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Well the production at 2x is still better than 1X. As long as the task elapsed time/2 is less than the 1X time, you get more production. You just need more cards for winter heating. I will have no issues keeping the house warm during the winter using 13 cards. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours ![]() ![]() A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

You are right of course Keith. I just thought the benefit would be bigger. It`s just sad i can`t use the GPU on Solus. Rocm is installed and Boinc can use the card but all tasks fail for some unknown reason. I fear Solus uses the Mesa drivers and those are not mature enough yet. Libraries: libcurl/7.82.0-DEV GnuTLS/3.7.2 zlib/1.2.11 libidn2/2.3.1 nghttp2/1.44.0 OpenCL: AMD/ATI GPU 0: AMD DIMGREY_CAVEFISH (DRM 3.42.0, 5.15.61-217.current, LLVM 12.0 (driver version 21.3.9, device version OpenCL 1.1 Mesa 21.3.9 (git-78c96ae5b6), 8192MB, 8192MB available, 7424 GFLOPS peak) libc: version 2.33 With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

I think I can count on one hand the number of users that have been successfull getting the ROCm OpenCL components to successfully crunch BOINC gpu tasks. OTOH, the standard AMD drivers seem to work on the older cards as long as you install the legacy OpenCL components on the install command line statement. ROCm just seems to constantly be a "work in progress" with off-again, on-again success with BOINC, the driver package and the kernel level compatibility. I totally agree Keith. I can crunch on win 10 if i want to but now adays i seldom boot into win 10 unless i want to play some games. Maybe i will change this during winter time. I might use the weekends for crunching and gaming. I startet running universe on Solus so i have something to do. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Heading into the last quarter. To be frank, can't see WCG returning any time this year. |
