[Interesting information. I wonder what is classed as high-end
Something most of us couldn't afford?
Especially so since even low end video cards are barely affordable.

. . I can't believe how dear 'used' GPUs are now.

I love me some chatter about Get Smart. great show, funny movie.

I'm still missing Seti too. Hard to image another project having such a nice community as this one. While boinc was set up to help researchers get computing done, I think so many of the projects forget that it is also about letting people feel like they are a part of your project.

Mac Boinc Question: I'm running 7.16.19 and they just released 7.16.21. There are NO release notes on changes, so I'm guessing the update is too minor for me to bother with. Anyone have more info?

Seems to be screen-saver related.

MacOS 12 Monterey (and perhaps some earlier versions of MacOS) call screensaver APIs in a different order than before, breaking BOINC's screensaver preferences dialog. This PR refactors BOINC Mac-specific screensaver logic to work properly with MacOS 12 while maintaining compatibility with older versions of MacOS.

Thanks Richard. I should have thought to look at github. hopefully they will update the wiki page soon. Since I don't run the screen saver, I'll pass on this update.

I'm getting Arecibo labeled tasks at Einstein. Just made me miss seti so I thought I'd stop by and let you all know, in case you want to do some Arecibo tasks.

. . E@H is all I do these days. But I haven't noticed what the current tasks are.

. .Aha, they are CPU tasks right??
. . OK. I had a .look at the settings and there are GPU versions too. I might fire up the little box and run some of them.

Several of the smaller telescopes at Arecibo are still functioning so new data will arrive from them if it suites the neds of the project

. . I tried to get some Arecibo tasks from E@H for the GPU but got "no work available" so I settled for running some of the CPU versions on the other 'big' rig, at least from my rigs. I was going to use the little box but it seems to have become unusable, it boots up, runs for a few seconds or minutes then shuts down. It seems another one has bitten the dust :(.

I am getting hundreds of binary radio pulsar tasks from Arecibo, plus a few gravitational wave GPU tasts. Also QuChem tasks and Rosetta tasks, both 4.20 no VirtualBox and rosetta python with Virtual box. Also Atlas@home from LHC.

The BRP4 GPU application is only available for Intel.

there is also an nvidia/arm app floating around if you grease the right palms ;)

Question for the guys running Einstein.
Do you have any issues there with crunching or posting their forum?
Reason for asking...
Been crunching E@H since WCG went offline.
Only able to crunch Binary as the gravity wu's were locking up rig.
Last wu reported in a short while ago, so asked for new tasks & got this:
29/04/2022 16:32:53 | Einstein@Home | Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) is not available for your type of computer.

Headed over to forum, created new thread asking What's changed, clicked on post.
Nada, nothing showed up, so here I am.

Edit, just showed up.
Got a fast response. :-)
Now crunching again.

Looks like FAST found something at last: https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/BtLLCb0GlPxjmhbAz5pUOw

Zhang Tongjie revealed that in 2020, the team discovered two groups of suspicious signals of extraterrestrial civilizations during the data processing of the "China Sky Eye" 2019 synchronic sky survey observations. In 2022, the team found another suspicious signal from the exoplanet target observation data.

"The possibility that the suspicious signal is some kind of radio interference is also very high, and it needs to be further confirmed and ruled out. This may be a long process." Zhang Tongjie said, the good news is that in the observation and data processing in recent years, For the FAST19 beam observation mode, the team proposed for the first time in the world the multi-beam matching mode for extraterrestrial civilization search and the frequency drift and polarization criteria of extraterrestrial civilization signals, which made the identification process of extraterrestrial civilization signals more scientific and complete.

I tried my new GPU yesterday and did a little crunching at einstein and Milkyway.
It looks like the navi don`t like multiple instances.
GPU usage is just 83% at one instance and takes 67 seconds each running Milkyway.
Running 2 instances GPU usage is 95% but takes almost 120 seconds so not much benefit.
Also the system is getting very laggy.
It is similar on einstein.

GPU is a Sapphire RX 6600XT Nitro+. with latest drivers.
BTW this card is not good for heating the room in winter.
It rarly exceeds 65C with fans on auto.
