Thanks for signing the team up for this Sirius B. I'm having fun with this. The link to the thread on WCG was useful. There seem to be two types of MCM WUs (LOO and NFCV) and on my machine they have different run times. Hopefully I'll get more credit for the longer running ones. |

[quote]I've gone from 3 hour run time to 6 hour run time per MCM. Are some WUs just more intense, or a setting issue? /quote] . . I have noticed the same thing, I put it down to throttling as my rigs were getting rather toasty. Stephen ??? |

I've gone from 3 hour run time to 6 hour run time per MCM. Are some WUs just more intense, or a setting issue? . . OK, again you seem to have the good oil. I am running Linux and tasks on my i5-6600 were taking 1.5 hours and are now taking almost 3.5 hours . . Also for what it is worth the increase in run times was greater on the i5-6600 than on the Ryzen7-1700 both of which have 16GB ram. On the Ryzen LOO were about 1.8 hours, the other tasks from 2.25 to 2.5 hours, no where near as bad. It seems WCG favours Ryzen architecture :) Stephen |

We're doing much better with our small team, than I thought possible, . . The spirit of setizenship lives on, even in our small numbers. Stephen |

I would be happy to rejoin the team at any time, but I wont as a matter of principle while a certain person is Admin. Nobody is more sorry than me. |

Is it really only Sirius and me on our team, who are aware of the WCG - 17th Birthday Challenge ? .. I just thought I would bring the link forward as we get near the finish line. [Whistling nonchalantly] Stephen |

Hi folks, . . Can anyone quote me the command line to set a power cap for my GTX970's and GTX1060's. Things are getting too toasty here for my liking. Stephen |

Howsa yourself, Stephen? Still plugging away in BOINC. Cursing the 80° F. days in North American winter and having to use air conditioning already. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

rosetta python requires 9 GB RAM and 19 GB disk but it uses much less. It will not run this PC with 24 GB RAM and only 10 GB disk available to BOINC. Rosetta 4.20 will run. WCG is going out until April so I shall move to Einstein@home. Tullio |

Christmas was good. Ready to celebrate a wedding that was postponed (my kid is getting married!). I hope all of you are doing well. I'm enjoying the last bit of WCG, and then I'm not sure if I'll just idle the machine or find another project for the inbetween time. |

Howsa yourself, Stephen? hiya Keith, The weather has finally cooled off here, now it is cooler but with massive storms that are flooding half the country (mostly east coast). But the cool change did not come until I had shut down my machines :(, and people wonder why I believe in Murphy's Law. I have been busy with a feral cat that adopted me and my home (well probably one of my other cats actually, she seems to be seriously crushing on the ginger male I call Meggsy {look up Ginger Meggs}). But the tart turned out to be pregnant, so I have been trying to 'tame' her and feed her separately (special diet for pregnant queens) and then finally helping her raise 5 gorgeous fur balls. Finally they were old enough to farm off to the CPS to find them their new homes, but I miss them and especially the tiny tabby female who was almost a clone of her very tiny mother who I named Mouse because of her size. So naturally I named the kitten Minnie (Mouse). But if I get all motivated again I might fire up the rigs and get back into E@H. But I still miss SETI@Home. Stephen |

WOW. I'm sitting here, feeling old because my kid is getting married... I hadn't gotten to the next step as they haven't said anything about kids yet, and BAM. hahaha, time to shake that feeling off, got too much to do to be feeling old. I'm missing Seti as I've had to move projects again as WCG is going down. I hope they aren't down long. I'm at Milky Way, but the boards are quiet over there. |

I continue on with Einstein predominately for gpus and for Universe for cpus. Our GPUUG team continues to put as much effort into improving the science apps at Einstein as we did with Seti. Making great progress. First iteration for the Separation app was at the same equivalent stage as the Lunatics apps adopted by Seti. Einstein admins adopted those quickly to launch the 1.28 version. Current iteration is at the Seti "special sauce" app stage. Basically a rewrite of the original application I believe based on the stderr.txt output. Milkyway's boards are very infrequently used. Strangely quiet compared to most projects boards. No idea why. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |
