You speak for me! Looking forward to the project coming out of hibernation! I've had SETI@HOME on my computers since the beginning. Carl Kruse SETI League |

Yikes! It's been 20 years? Really? Ok then, onward we compute, can't let those CPU cycles go to waste. Cheers All, it's been fun. TL, So Cal. |

Im sorry, im a newbie here. Are project SETI is still alive? My CPU making some work now on SETI. No new data is being processed. All we are now seeing is "cleanup". Tom M A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

Im sorry, im a newbie here. Are project SETI is still alive? My CPU making some work now on SETI. You will still get BOINC Credits for results that are returned before the deadline, but any results that are already validated are not necessary for the Science Database The project has been sending duplicates for the last few weeks in order to get a Valid result for each Workunit more quickly. |

Thank you for the past 20 years. It has been a priviledge to contribute to this project. I am eager to hearing from you regarding scientific outcome. Keep us posted. |

I've been doing this thing since August '99, so quite a long time. Things have changed a lot since then. Computers were slow, by current standards, but I had a lot of fun running this on PCs, and some nice servers - mostly RISC at the time, x86 came after. Back then, it was fun getting SETI to work on several OS/HW, and RISC was the best. Competing with colleagues was a plus. Now my home PC is faster than those :) Time to get the queues clean, and hope for a return of SETI :) Thanks for all of that and it would be nice to see some results :) |

I joined SETI in 1999. At one time, I had five machines running (I know, not much compared to the big guys, but, even this was electrically spendy). Recently, I have two quad-core machines with taskable GPUs and I was rockin' pretty good. Now, both SETI accounts sit idle, so sad. Both machines are now running Einstein@Home, but, they really want to return to SETI!! BOINC is a great idea and brotherhood. Rock on, my international friends. |

Well, that's it for me. I just uploaded my last completed work. It seems a little funny to not be checking in on my cranky old machines to be sure things are still running. 20 1/2 years, it was a good run Farewell for now, but I'll be checking in occasionally to see if something is going on Geoff |

I had hoped to be finished long before now, but still chewing on some Does anybody know: why did the tasks sent out recently tend to have much higher initial replications? |

The additional Tasks for each Workunit have been sent out in order to try to get the Canonical Results back more quickly. If you have a look at your Tasks in Progress, you can see which ones are actually Still Needed You will still get Credit for Valid Results that are returned before deadline, but SOME of them may have already been Validated. It's up to you whether you want to continue crunching WU's that are already validated, if you have already started them, you might as well complete them for the Credit, but it would be useful to Prioritize any that are still awaiting Validation. [Edit] I just had a look at your In Progress WU's https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=3949350541 Is still waiting for a valid result, your only other In Progress task that I could see is already validated. Depending on how many Cores you are using for SETI, try to prioritize 18se10ag.8607.15302.4.31.56_2 |

Hi Sanya, We all worked on a noble, even spiritual, task: deeply hopeful, finally logical, full of ancient human wonder, and many of us will work on it again if we have the opportunity. The feeling now seems to be that our galactic neighborhood is not teeming with electro-mechanical civilizations, but we still don't know. It is early days in the search. We just don't know when it will be successful. Clearly, this work is useful to lonely, thinking creatures like us! Best Regards, Rich |
