Look at da Far Side of dA Moon.

I've always Wondered Why Billionaires and Mega Millionaires never Got Together and Filled da Coffers of S@H.

Their balance sheets would not notice it. Like a grain of sand amongst all da beaches of Titan.

Why Share, when All dA Glory can be theirs?

Yep. Behind da Moon are Signal Suckers and They won't ever Let You Know.

Greatest Discovery of HumanKind eh? and all other Blah blah blah.

Yep

May we All have a METAMORPHOSIS. REASON. GOoD JUDGEMENT and LOVE and ORDER!!!!!

Wow it's been a long time. I joined this project with my original account some time back in 99. I believe I read about it in Wired magazine.

Sad to see the project end after so long and processing on so many machines. I literally burned up one laptop letting it process data while docked.

I suppose there's no purpose in continuing to process data if we never look to see what's in it. I look forward to that task.

Thank you to all the people who have worked on this over the years.

Since 2004 with Seti at my homes. The project can stay slept until it wakens again. No hurries.

Greetings from Spain. Un saludo desde España.

Likewise, I was somewhat shocked after being idle for a long time and then coming back recently, that I originally joined in 1999! I remain excited about SETI and the power of distributed volunteer projects like this - cool stuff and thanks to everyone making it happen. Best of luck to all.

Been Crunching since 3 Apr 1999. Almost 21 years. Heard about it through the Planetary Society. Was never a large contributor, but always had whatever machines I had at the time working on it.

As has been mentioned, only a small portion of the sky has been mapped. And they now have all the data they need? I understand the need for back end work, but what about the parts of the sky not yet mapped?

I, for one, am truly disappointed. The universe is a pretty big place (by every (in)conceivable measure). The odds of us being alone are infinitesimally small. I hope the search will continue someday.

Science matters.

Talk about a bittersweet development. I look forward to reading the resultant paper.

Until the objective of the task was reached or funding became unobtainable. I fail to understand this concept of diminishing returns but I may have misunderstood the scope of the project. Obviously I am not the only one failing to understand how or why we would discontinue filtering signals from extraterrestrial sources. Were we waiting for a signal in a 20 year timespan and now that window has closed? Are we continuing to filter signals for possible intelligent extraterrestrial sources? Has it now become impossible to filter out the interference from man made sources and what are those sources? Is there now available a superior method of computing power to process the data and we are no longer a productive source of computing power for this project? Is the decision in any way a result of politics. Why would anyone think there would not be questions
resulting from ending a project that at its very purpose is curiosity and answering the question "Are we all alone in the universe"

This is bittersweet. I was fascinated with this project from the beginning and crunched on and off for the past few years. I'm glad to see that Boinc was developed so other researchers could utilize what S@H started. As much as I would like to continue to help with this project, I would rather see the back end produce a result than to crunch and not have an answer at all.

Thanks to all those that have helped with questions I have had about how the different applications worked or computer questions in general. I feel I have learned a lot about computing in the past few years when I have stepped away from it for so long.

I know a lot of people are bummed, but I hope that doesn't stop your quest for knowledge. I will continue to crunch for other projects on Boinc (Einstein & MW for now, perhaps another later) with all my rigs, and I hope others do too.

May 16th, 1999. Nearly twenty-one years. I've not been the best - too many periods without internet connection and I've never had great computers to work with, but I've never done anything else. I've never really wanted to do anything else.

In the abstract, I understand why the project is ending, but I'm sure I'll be lost for a long time without it.

Thanks for having me.

I must say, I'm confused (although, I admit I have not kept up with all the latest developments).

Isn't what we have been doing, "analyzing all the data"? What further analysis needs to be done?

And if there is further analysis to be done, while that is happening, surely there is a lot more radio telescope data that should continue to be analyzed by us, to be fed into the "back end analysis" when it catches up?

Unless, of course, we are producing more results that can be analyzed by the computing power of the back end. If so, then there are thousands of PCs available to assist in the back end analysis.

I have been proud to be associated with this project for over 10 years and more than happy to donate computer time, but, I'm sorry, I don't understand.
