I would like to contribute to breakthrough listen - Is this possible, and if it is - How? You have already been contributing every time you processed a WU that had a BLC prefix https://breakthroughinitiatives.org/contacts/breakthrough-listen may be helpful. |

It's finally happened: my system stopped receiving new tasks from the Server, since April 20th 2020. It's been a long road since I've first learned of SETI, back in the Summer of 1998. The PC was a brand new Pentium III 450MHz, with a - then - fancy SCSI disk, and whopping 256MB of RAM. It was magical to see the colorful graphics on the screen, and to imagine: is there anybody out there? A lot has past since that day. I used every possible OS for PCs (and the eventual Hackintosh). I changed my computer setup over a hundred times. Moved six times (until I got a mortgage). Changed not just jobs but my profession (twice). Got married (16 years and counting). Dad died (10 years ago), two dogs and a cat aren't among us anymore neither. But, during this time, my desk and lamp stood the same, and so did my screensaver: almost 22 years of SETI. Although I changed the display half a dozen times. Sure there are other projects to dedicate our hardware to crunch (some pretty pressing, like Covid), but I'll miss Seti. Not just the philosophy about it (is there anybody out there?), but the cool color graphics - who looked real slow in 1998, not so much on a GTX1080 in 2020. I would like to thank everybody who was involved in the project, for such a long run. Hope to hear about the results soon. As a farewell, I would like to leave a gift for everybody who, as myself, miss Seti: a video of the final 30 minutes of my tasks, from 2020-04-24 10h42m05s (GMT -3). Best regards, Paulo Feitosa. Ugh. I joined in 1999 when it took my 14400 baud modem an hour to download each work unit and more than a week to process. This is so very sad to see. I wonder if anyone has done a statistical analysis about how long we should look before questioning if there is intelligent life out there. |

Well that's it, I'm done, the last task returned. My S@H memorial stone will read 26 May, 1999 - 17 May, 2020 ad astra per aspera The project will still be open on my computer, but I doubt I'll see the tasks again, though hope springs eternal. Thanks to all involved and to my fellow crunchers, I hope to see you on other projects. Cheers AC |

Yesterday, I completed my last work units for this project (for the foreseeable future). For the first time in almost nineteen years I can no longer see the screensaver. I miss it already. Thank you all for the great memories. |

Started in 1999. Fun while it lasted. I was featured on a Home Box Office (HBO) VICE special about SETI. Built up computers for SETI - starting with a computer that took almost a week to do one Classic Work Unit. Things changed so quickly! |

I would like to contribute to breakthrough listen - Is this possible, and if it is - How? Not through Seti@Home but you could probably donate money to the Seti Institute or something. Tom M A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

I have added or had to replace OS's since the hibernation started and am no longer able to add them to Seti@Home. Is there a work around? Tom M A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |
