Started House Dorrycott in 1999, 21 years now. Three accounts, eleven computers, five OS's and the end comes. Say, weren't we guaranteed a starship when this ended? No but there was a rumor of a Seti Toaster......... A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

I'm gonna ride this thing down to the ground and the eagerly await the results of the analysis. My biggest regret is I probably won't get to celebrate 21 full years of crunching this thing. |

Juan, would setting our hair on fire also be appropriate? Certainly. A sacrifice of a virgin in a vulcano will be fine too. Anything for the last day of S@H as we know, is valid. ![]() |

I've been working with the project for 20 years, will miss it very much. Good luck in future endeavors. |

A sacrifice of a virgin in a volcano will be fine too. I agree, find an active vulcano is a lot more easier. T - 5 days. ![]() |

Juan, would setting our hair on fire also be appropriate? Or covering our head/faces with ashes? Come to think of it, if you did set your hair on fire the results would cover your head/face with ashes..... hmmmmmm..... Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

I've crunched nowhere near as much as a lot of people who have been around less than I have. But none the less, I am happy with my contributions over the last 20 years, 6 months & 27 days. Just realised that I started my account on 30 August 1999. |

I wonder if there is anyway we can offload the amount of "Admin work" that is required of the Seti@Home servers so that we could continue processing on the AstroPulse project? By moving to an AP only project the reduction in volume should make it a lot less time consuming to keep it running. The DB would be a bunch smaller at least at the beginning. And the project team might be able to get grant money for a Pulsar search that just also happens to look for S@H signals since the AP process can also find those. YOU asked more or less the same question a couple of days ago (https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=85371&postid=2039862), and I'm going to refer you to the answer you were given then: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=85371&postid=2040074 Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I wonder if there is anyway we can offload the amount of "Admin work" that is required of the Seti@Home servers so that we could continue processing on the AstroPulse project? I'm afraid there is no great sense in it. Pulsar search approach used in AP quite simple, it's good for diploma work indeed but... Think Einstein@home find pulsars (and it FOUND them indeed in a number) in much more sophisticated way. So, if you as me like Astronomy and want to continue to be part of real astro-physics (real means not modeling) worth to consider to join Einstein@home while SETI is on hold. SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

Berkeley seems to have found a new SETI project. https://news.berkeley.edu/story_jump/new-telescope-to-look-for-laser-pulses-from-life-around-other-planets/ |

Berkeley seems to have found a new SETI project. Darn, there wasn't any mention of the back end data processing in the article. Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |
