Dang, after so many years, I really will miss the SETI project and all that great team of folks behind it, as well as the very many people who made this project great with their computers .

Now where can I get tee shirts, caps, coffee mugs, etc? I want to always remember my time with SETI.

Wow.Didn't realise how long I had been running this. In that time only three computers as well, I must be a cheapskate.

This my first post as well?

Art Bell got me started in this endeavor as well. I started crunching with a Pentium 200 with the vaunted EDO memory in 2000. My machines are old and soon to be retired so when this restarts I hope to hit the ground running faster. Until then. . . . .

I think you can still order/buy the 20th anniversary T-Shirts above.

https://society6.com/mugs/seti

Google claims coffee cups are above.

Below is a selection of T-shirts and cups
https://www.cafepress.com/+seti+gifts

And you may be able to design a cap there too.

Shall we meet at the restaurant at the end of the universe?

Gonna miss it. Hope it returns with more projects in the future.

Wow, this really is the end of days... Or at least of an era. I've been with y'all since the early days, crunching all along the way. I'll think of you when I'm looking up at whatever night sky I happen to catch along the way between the light pollution. What we have down here among the lights is also amazing: a home allowing us the comfort and luxury to reach for the stars and think big. I suppose we are now entering a moment to really focus on that home. Maybe Corona will somehow help serve to kickstart the needed Green Revolution.

To the SETI team. Thanks for the hopes and dreams and hard work. Don't let us miss your eventual journal article!

And yes, thanks for all the fish.

So your just stopping cold Turkey? No plans to collect additional data to analyze? What about the data already analyzed? I feel like i just wasted 20+ years and got nothing for it.

Please re-read the post announcing the HIBERNATION of SETI@Home. They have 20 years of data, that they have collected from us, that needs analyzed and it CANNOT be done through distributed computing. What we are doing now is giving diminishing returns.

Have a great day! :)

No you did not waste 20 years, now we will get something from it.

IMHO if final data analyse will give negative result or even if it will be never finished at all, in ALL cases time spent on this project in those 20+ years was NOT wasted for all involved.

It pleases me to no end thinking about all the CPU's out there over the years that got overclocked to the point all the blue smoke came out of'em.

Bless this project and all the over clocking fun it brought to the masses.

They are still collecting data https://seti.berkeley.edu/ They just aren't going to send it through seti@home, but will through Serendip.

In any case knowing how sensitive the search was will let those who come after know what to aim for to get a better chance. That alone is worth the 20 years. And we may be able to rule out a few close by stars and their exoplanets.

Well that's kind of sad. I've just returned to the project after a long, forced absence. I'll leave my connection open should help be needed in the future.
