I not wish to enter in discussion but there is a big difference from a: Bukered host: The host is not actually crunching, just keep the WU in a limbo until the original host back to crunch it. Spoofed Host: The host is actually crunching the WU and report as any other hosts. Like my host for example. About the host in question, is not a bunkered host, it's crunches a lot of WU per day. BTW we could call as a well managed spoofed host, the user has total control of the deadlines and must finish all the work before the deadlines unless of course a hardware or software crash. So expect no resends from it. The hosts who has problems are the ones who DL the WU and not return anything crunched, due the AV, bad configuration, turned off, etc. There are the hosts who are candidates to resends. >edit> The link provided is wrong. This is the right link: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=8652081

It depends on "bunkering" hosts like this https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=8652081&offset=52360&show_names=0&state=1&appid= . . Something about pots, kettles and name calling right? Stephen |

Well the owner of that machine is a very active poster in NC, including this thread, I wonder if he would like to comment on how long it will be before his"bunker" will be empty ! . . A very long time since neither of the two listed machines seems to have returned any results since April Fool's Day. Stephen :( |

. . Something about pots, kettles and name calling right? I like the term cleaning my own room, before commenting on the cleanliness of others. |

https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=8652081&offset=52360&show_names=0&state=1&appid= is no longer a valid link, because the host has returned a few hundred results in the last few hours. If you edit the URL, and remove about a thousand from the Offset Value, you should get a valid link. |

Once the assimilators have catched up, they should reenable the ghost resending mechanism on the servers (the full version of it), the servers should now be able to handle that additional load. Eric says that they have been running with resends on about 1/3 of the time. If things get tangled up, it gets turned back off and back on when things clear. So, many ghost tasks should have already been resent. Not sure how many are still out there. Meow. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once."

Try to get your facts right before blaming people. |

Or they were correct at the times they were made.. . A very long time since neither of the two listed machines seems to have returned any results since April Fool's Day. Grant Darwin NT |

Or they were correct at the times they were made. The latter one was made less than an hour after the first one and referred to the 'last few hours', so the times were the same and there's no way for both of them to be correct. |

Eric says that they have been running with resends on about 1/3 of the time.Unfortunately, in order to pick up a resend, the host in question has to contact the server and actively request work. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8873201 still hasn't phoned home since 8 April: unless that spoofer gives his machine a kick, we'll never know whether the tasks are bunkered or ghosts. |

Well, in that case, Mark's news from Eric suggests it's worth getting the kicking boots out. He's running ------------------------------------------------------------- SETI@home v8 enhanced x41p_V0.99b1p3, CUDA 10.2 special (PT) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Modifications done by petri33, Mutex by Oddbjornik. Compiled by Ian (^_^) -------------------------------------------------------------------------Maybe one of them know how to get a message to him? |

Well, it seems the assimilation queue has finally been depleted: Workunits waiting for assimilation 0 0 5 0m Still over 2 million results out in the field though Tom |

Another computer with a very high number of tasks in progress (nearly 30k): https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8568062 Wish I could get some ... Tom |

Another computer with a very high number of tasks in progress (nearly 30k):That one is at least actively crunching so the tasks are not in a black hole. |

When I look at my own pending tasks, I can find lots and lots of computers that stopped contacting the servers at the turn of the month without finishing their caches. And almost all of them are running Windows. I guess a lot of the 2 million tasks still out in the field are in those black holes waiting for their deadlines. |

Finally. My Valid list is now just down to those waiting on Tasks to be returned. Grant Darwin NT |
