Message 2042350 - Posted: 1 Apr 2020, 17:28:24 UTC - in response to Message 2042347.

We've covered quite a lot of that in other threads around the message boards:

I had at least one task from 31mr11ai overnight - it showed up in my database (message 2042283)
One of the mods reported a message from Eric to say that the Astropulse splitter had been deliberately de-prioritised until MB has finished splitting.
And Eric himself has said that final splitting is slow because of the assimilation backlog (2042328)

31mr11ai file has appeared there after Eric's announcement!

Yes but that tape was already splited, just look the SSP.
It appeared there alredy split instead of just being split before we noticed it?

Neither of my computers having any task split from it seems to support this was the case. I guess it was added for AP splitters only.

But AP splitters haven't made any progress since yesterday. That same file has been in that state with 7 channels done and another 7 being split for a long time now. Also my smaller machine has tried to ask AP tasks for its CPU queue without receiving anything but one resend for more than 2 days.

I asked that yesterday and this was the answer

https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=84031&postid=2042225

My post:

More as curiosity, to try to learn something, since i not do AP

Are the AP spliters in a endless loop?

Since yesterday they remains on the same tape and no changes on the activities 7 channels in progress and 7 done.

In a post to the moderators Eric mentioned that the MB tapes are being given preference over AP.

So the last WU to be split may well be AP ;-)

It has been a blast reading all y'alls posts over the years... Thanks... I've learned a bunch from you folks...

I've had 3 accounts since I started in 1999 ( my cousin was in the astrophysics course at Berkeley at the time ) and have always enjoyed reading all I can on the subject of shared computing...

That said...

I received 4 27mr work units at 8:31Z and nothing since... I guess it is running down...

My main Amd box seems to be dry.
I have taken E@H off backup so now S@H will only have the advantage of 1000 resources to everyone else's 100 or less.

My Windows box is running its gpu on tasks.
No cpu tasks at the moment at least.
Gpu got slowed by some "7 days on a gpu" wonder that was north of 45 minutes when I aborted it.

I assume my Intel box is dry because I NNT it yesterday.

I just received 66 WU what i consider could be my last round of new MB WU form the 27mr20ac tape.

Not even see if they are for the GPU or CPU yet.
With my cache i can't see an individual WU using the manager, simply its GUI is to slow to handle.
Need to sun a script to separate them but my CPU's are doing Rosetta now and i not wish to stop them.

I think I have received one task so far today on my 3 hosts. One host is out of cpu work and has about 4 hours of gpu left. Another host is down to the last 25 cpu tasks and about 6 hours left of gpu work.
The daily driver still has the most because it was previously doing mainly Rosetta. It will last about half a day.

I will turn off the 3900X when it goes empty. Still need to finish up the 2700X host and then turn it off, leaving only the Threadripper and the daily driver.

I was not expected any more work. But i still think the servers always like me and they wish to say: "nice work done and congratulation for be the top #1 host on S@H by total credit", with this is last hurrah!

I need to drink to celebrate that today!

With no work going out after current queue has been split apart from resends does that mean the administrator will have time to transfer the data to where it needs to go?

01/04/2020 21:39:49 | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 51 new tasks
Probably not enough to carry me all the way to 200M, but hopefully I've got enough pendings, and will get enough resends, to get across the line.

That's it for new data distribution (other than Astropulse). I'm sure there will be some resends, but now it's just crunching time.

. . Yep you should make it when the smoke settles, sadly I am too far from target but I should crack 192 million, one more month and I would have been there too :)

Doesn't look like Astropulse splitting is going anywhere.

From Eric today's post: (underline by me)

There's still a little astropulse to be split when disk space clears

I'll be happy to end up with 16M, and that's ok given my 13 years I spent globe trotting and couldn't really crunch. That's quite a rise from the 32K I was sitting on this time last year.

I guess that's it. It's been 6 hours since i got any work.
No sign of any further AP work coming out, even though the files are there. Will have to wait a month or 3 for things to timeout, resends to get sent out & returned, for the the database to trim down a bit.

The line which keeps floating around is there will be more AP files coming, but the process is taking a back seat to others. The "timeline" here appears to be days, so kind of a if you're doing other things, it is probably time to attend to those other things, otherwise patience is the modus operandi.

Indeed. I personally won't be crunching for any other projects, never have, and I've always hated the BOINC software, so this is it for me. I'll patiently wait, if I get something, fine, if not, whatever.
