Hello I have been running seti@home for many years now but since getting a new laptop this has happened :- After doing extensive benchmark tests I have concluded that Running BOINC Seti@home DEFINATELY slows down my computer and distorts sound on such programmes as Winuae Amiga emulator and makes Micrososft Flight Simulator X and FS2004 so slow it causes the games to judder. However when I suspend all seti actions the computer speed returns to normal and all is well There must be then a conflict happening I am guessing. I am running Windows 10 on an ASUS 64 bit laptop with GEFORCE Nvidia GTX Intel (R) Core TM iS-7300HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz 2,50 Ghz Any views gratefully accepted Thank you |

There are several options available to you depending on how you use & run SETI on your laptop. If you leave the laptop turned on but aren't actually using it for Flight Sim or one of the other programs you list it would be worth setting up an exclusions list in BOINC with the applications you want to be judder free listed. To create an exclusions list go to "options", then hit on the "exclusive applications", this will bring up a screen where you add the applications you want to run smoothly, you will have to know what the main application file name is, but that can generally be found by right clicking on the shortcut and looking at the properties - don't forget to add ".exe" at the end of the file name (no prizes for guessing how I found that out.....) Others are a bit more tricky, so we'll try that one for now. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Thank you for replying. I did as you said and if anything it just made it worse So, I am just going to suspend seti@home whenever I am using my laptop and run it again when I log off - in the background. I have been running seti since 2005 and this is the first problem I have ever had |
