These lines are the only attempt at project communication, and that communication is specifically with SETI@Home. The last line indicates the problem lay not on your computer, but elsewhere, probably within the network at SETI@Home.

There are a number of debug flags that can be set to improve the diagnostics - not having BOINC installed on this computer I can't remember exactly what they are.

My G5's running 6.12.35 with no problem — apart from SETI@home now being my only BOINC project with an app for it. ;)

I think that tells the story, and as I suspected, the problem seems to be with the SSL (https) security certificate.

You have a Windows machine running BOINC v7.14.2 - is it possible for you to copy the file 'ca-bundle.crt' from that machine? It'll be in the same folder as the BOINC programs, and should be placed in the equivalent folder on this machine, replacing the file that's already there.

I'm having the same problem but slightly different. After hearing this project is going into hibernation I'm trying to connect the computer I used for SETI Classic in the late 90's.

The computer in question is a Blue and White G3 450mhz upgraded to a 500mhz G4 running OS X 10.4.11 with BOINC 6.12.35. Other than this hiccup the computer still runs great.

Your last log of the 7th of February showed that the computer could now at least reach Seti using the ca-bundle.crt but then was stopped with a ASN1_verify:unknown message digest algorithm error. This is caused by the old OpenSSL used in that BOINC version and cannot be fixed without using a newer BOINC version with a newer OpenSSL version that supports SHA-2 or higher encryption.

So it's no use trying to use that system here.
