So I've exclusively used a home made raspberry pi cluster these past 2 and 1/2 years for SETI@home, and decided to expand into GPU computing to help the efforts. I have a Jetson Nano coming in so I can use CUDA cores, and my personal computer is a Mac Mini with a Radon VII in an eGPU enclosure. For the Mac Mini, I don't really want to use the CPU much because of the thermals of the case. So I've limited the CPU time greatly, which works. But since I am using GPU processing with the Radeon VII, this is also having the Intel iGPU run maxed out, which is causing a ton of heat inside the Mac Mini. So my question is there a config flag or something I can use to get BOINC to ignore the Intel iGPU but still use Radeon VII? |

Never mind, finally found the preferences page to disable GPU types. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project if anyone else needs. |

And you can manually abort the Intel iGPU tasks without harming your Seti@Home account if you need or want to (to cool the case faster). If you are processing Seti@Home gpu tasks please make sure they aren't throwing garbage. There are currently problems with the 5700 gpu drivers.... see the sticky thread. Don't know if it does/doesn't apply to the 5700 on a Mac though. Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |
