Select a drive letter that you do have, such as C:, and see how it goes then.

A couple of questions that might help us help you.
First, where did you download BOINC from?
If not from https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php go there and get a clean copy of the installer.
Second, did you download the "Virtual Box" version?
If you did, then you really don't need "virtual Box", so make sure that failed to install - delete it if it did (probably from the command centre). Then download the version without virtual box and try again.

The option where to install is on about the third or fourth screen once the installer gets going (soon after the license agreement page) - if you take the defaults, which should be C:\Program Files\BOINC\ and C:\ProgramDATA\BOINC\ - you can change them here using the "advanced" button.
(I may have the capitalization wrong as I'm working from memory)

You've had BOINC installed before and at the time it was to drive I:
Try Rob's advice about the Advanced button and changing the data directory path first. It'll be the Advanced button on the third screen of the installer.
If that doesn't work, open the registry with regedit.exe, then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Setup and remove the entries for INSTALLDIR and DATADIR
No need to restart the computer, just restart the BOINC installer. It'll work now.

Thanks everyone for all the help!
Correct, totally forgot that I had it installed on drive "I" before.
I edited the registry as you directed.
I've disabled firewall / antivirus software
Right clicked on the BOINC download and "run as administrator"
That resolved the original installation problem but now I have a new one:
wizard was interrupted before BOINC could be completely installed.

Rebooting. and browsing for resolution. Thanks so much!
