Downloading totally screwed up now. Impossible to get any download going.

. . Not quite impossible if you have a nimble mouse finger and a lot of patience ...

Woke up to find downloads in extended backoff mode- instant timeouts when trying to download. A few thousand (at least that's whet it felt like) retries and they eventually managed to download, now i'm getting nothing but "Project has no task available" messages.

And i see "Results returned and awaiting validation" & "Workunits waiting for assimilation" continue to climb to new record highs. Even the AP Validators, Assimilators & Deleters are showing occasional signs of problems.

Edit- once again posting about it fixes it, managed to get some more work. Time for lots more Retry clicking.

Edit- and downloads now seem to no longer require assistance to complete, although upload instant timeouts seem to be more frequent than usual.

Still plenty of BLC35 noise bombs/early overflows coming through.

Purging queue is growing at a steady rate which is a good sign IMO because it means things are moving through the system

Unfortunately the Assimilator backlog continues to grow, so it's still not moving fast enough.

That's been the problem for a while now- things are moving, but they're moving slower than what's coming in, hence all the backlogs that continue to grow.

It may not be moving fast but at least it's moving. Here's an idea who thinks it would help if we all emptied our queues and didn't process any work?

And that would be of little help either.
We need to stop processing new work as that would stop the backlogs from growing. Resends we need to continue processing in order to help reduce the backlogs.

Have you or anyone made contact with the powers at be to suggest this idea?

I don't have contact details, Richard has suggested running a script to clear missed/stuck Validations to try and get things moving again.

I have lots of work that was validated last year, and that still hasn't been cleared from the database. Such as this one.

It looks like these workunits somehow just sit in the database taking up space, and the assimilators don't know about them.

That's where one of Matt's old scripts could come in handy - to notify the assimilators that they need to chew through all this old and near forgotten stuff.

Yeah Matt is really missed in times like these and he would've had those MBv7's put to bed long ago.

Cheers.

Maybe this will be a "dry" Weekend (eg. no drinking?).

What WUs are coming through here are all crap short ones. Nothing to heat the house. I would prefer some resends instead of these crap new ones.

Splitters have been down for a few hours now.
Getting the odd resend here & there (many of which are just noise bombs).

There have been a lot of ups and downs lately, but it seems that the downs are winning.

So, is this going to be the new normal for the weekends now?

Doesn't look like that. Last week the weekend was the only time of the week my computers could consistently keep their caches full.

We are drifting further and further from a situation where the splitters could start running. There's now almost 21 million results in the db and it is still rising despite of splitters having been stopped for 10 hours. So much resends...

About 9 milllion of those 21 million results are probably being held hostage by the ever growing assimilation queue.

Interesting

"Results in the field" is DROPING

"Results received in last hour" is SLOWING

AND

"Results returned and awaiting validation" is RISING

Doesn't seem like "awaiting validation" should be going up if "results received" is slowing.
