I want to install the AMD drivers for my RX 5700 XT in Fedora 31, so I can test whether the seti@home problems talked about in this thread occur in Linux. AMD only supports Ubuntu, I guess. I'd rather not install Ubuntu just to test this one thing, so I tried extracting the tarball and installing anyway, but the script wouldn't allow me. Is there a way to get this installed on Fedora? This thread suggests that it installs itself(at least with a different GPU), but I see no indication. |

Have you asked this on the Fedora Forum? I would think there would be mutual interest in getting the latest AMD cards working among the gaming enthusiasts. |

Unfortunately, the same issue does affect the Linux OpenCL drivers for the Navi cards. Here is an affected host. Very good timing because we had been looking for one of these until yesterday... almost all the Linux hosts on this project are using NVidia cards (including mine.) |

Not sure if this is my solution(Linux noob) but I found some drivers here. My GPU is at least being recognized in lspci now. Thanks for the heads up Kevvy, but I think I should let the GPU run long enough to verify the issue. We'll see... :( |

No worries... Dr. Eric Korpela, the project director, tweaked the validator because of the all the misbehaving AMD RXs (and because we pestered him 😃 ) so that now for -9 overflows it will take a quorum of three machines not two to agree for validity. That should stop most of the RX cross-validations. But please do keep a watch on it. Good to do that for any new host. |

Either my GPU is being blocked by seti@home now, or something is going on with my setup. Regardless, I shut off GPU computing again. Hopefully someday we'll get some decent drivers :( |

the project is having lots of problems right now. but maybe the drivers you installed aren't quite right. it shows OpenCL 1.1, but usually I see OpenCL 2.0 for AMD cards here. not sure if that matters. Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours |

I did receive a few GPU work units but they were never worked on. Could be the drivers I found, but the AMD Ubuntu drivers don't work, either. The drivers I found are the only AMDGPU drivers for Fedora, I assume the open source ones. |
