Special note to ALL:

ANY racism silliness being peddled, or whatever, and that perpetrator will be banned immediately.

Hopefully, we have evolved to something far better than to descend into such stupidity here, even in trying to push stupid jokes.

Please, can we have a better more intelligent discussion?

Now lets move on before this thread gets deleted as being too far from reasoned intelligent discussion.

There is a little excuse for the present embarrassing dire state of American politics, but there are limits for keeping this thread positive and child friendly.

Please see some positivity?

Please discuss ways we can make the world better.

Regards,
Martin

If I may...

There is a little excuse for the present embarrassing dire state of American politics

I must regrettably agree 100% and this applies to both Trump and the Democrat leadership.

Why only King Donald and not the Republican leadership? Do you think the people who are holding King Donald in office are without fault?

Curiously, in this time of Corona virus, we have daily escalating cold war manoeuvres in the South China Sea between China and the USA...

Hopefully all just 'distraction games' rather than 'war games' or 'games of hegemony'?

Whatever next?

All in our only one deadly greedy world,
Martin

PBS is rerunning Vietnam by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Consider President Bone Spurs. Didn't even have the courage to go to Canada. How is that Corona Virus response going? Any surprise?

BTW David H. Koch, right wing, funded the film.

Therefore, I 100% agreed with:

There is a little excuse for the present embarrassing dire state of American politics
I think that the biggest problem is that the electoral cycle has evolved to depend on the Party political system.

This very successful Democrat Party then included the following voter's in different State's: Southern KKK, Northern Blacks, Communists, Socialist's and Capitalist's.
Aren't they ALL American citizens covered by your constitution?

Where exactly do you believe that those listed aren't American Citizens?
Don't believe anything of the sort. Just questioning your statement. ARE you saying that until that point, those groups of people could not vote?
If so...
...after all, you did state "Then Included the following"...

When in became obvious to the KKK they could no longer control the Democrats, they tried independent, remember George Wallace?, but that failed, however they found that could easily control the Republican Party, which they do to this day in concert with the capitalists, Gadsden's, Sovereign Citizens and Fascists.

They may or may not be, the USA has many persons illegally living inside its borders.

With the Republican Party, because of the objections of the Southern KKK controlling the Southern Democrat vote in Congress. Helped pass our Federal Civil Right's Laws in the 60's Nothing unusual for the USA to get things done.

I thought LBJ ramrodded the voting rights act and that caused the Dixiecrats to flip the south from Dem to Repub.

Joe McCarthy didn't think they were.

Or, he considered them treasonous Americans.
McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCarthyism

I don't have any factual information if McCarty believed they were not American citizen's. Just Treasonous and Subversive American citizen's.
If someone can reference a Non-Citizen belief. Please post the reference.
Since when has posing a question become a belief?

Because of our Winner Take's All.

No. it isn't. It might have been when the system was devised, but since then, due to industrialisation, the population has changed and the election system has not been modified to account for urbanisation.

Should an electoral vote for Wyoming represent less than 200,000 voters when the number for Florida is greater than 600,000.

Plus it is never going to work until gerrymandering and other voter suppression measures are outlawed. Some experts in gerrymandering have claimed they can fix the vote, at State and city level, so that the other party will never gain control.

I've been saying for years that the current U.S. system is far too open to corruption (in fact it virtually encourages it) and badly needs drastic reforming. ;-)

I do understand that many cannot understand that the USA is a Union of separate States. Where internally, there is no, in the Europe sense, American Government.

Just a limited authority Federal Government and 50 States, with many different and disparate laws*.

Think of the USA as the European Union on steroids.

BTW: Because the Federal Government has complete authority over Foreign Policy. Many foreigner's, quite understandably, incorrectly believe this also applies inside this "Union of States".

*As with Country's. If one commits a crime in one State and flees to another State where he/she is arrested.. The original State must apply for Extradition of this person from the arresting State. Which the arrested person can fight if he/she wishes. But this will not succeed and only delays the Extradition.

Stop insulting us non-US citizens and accusing us of failing to understand how the US system works.

Most of us do have the sense to do some research into why the US has these weird ways of working in the 21st Century. Only to find out that the US in all its wisdom has decided to cast the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and all the associated documents in stone, and is therefore stuck with a system designed for a different population, where at least 50% worked on the land, which doesn't fit the present day concentration of the people into cities and states which are mainly on the coasts. As noted in this statement in reply to Mad Mitch's, Rep Kentucky, suggestion that states should be allowed to become bankrupt,
“It’s your state that is living on the money that we generate,” Cuomo said. “Your state is being bailed out, not my state.”

Even in that fairly small space called New York State there is a big difference between those who live in New York City and those who live north of Albany.
