The biggest problem likely is the door size required by wheelchairs and I can tell you that those doors are twice the price of a standard door and to try and retrofit fit 1 into an existing property is a real headache let alone doing all the doors (a major headache it is). Places really need to be designed/legislated from the start to accommodate the disabled (and if they are then the price of those doors will come down also). |

The Bottom Half of Door ONLY NEEDs to be Expanded to Clear the Wheels/hands. Sometimes it is Not Possible to do One of The Sides - so the Needed 'CUT OUT' can be Done on Other Side. Whole Door/Space Does Not Need a NEW WIDER DOOR TO ACCOMADATE. Easy Peasy At Least for a Skilled Mo Fo Like Me. SUPERRefurb May we All have a METAMORPHOSIS. REASON. Yet another tower block fire Fortunately, no fatalities & fire crews still on site. However, there are links to previous fires in London & out of interest, clicked on one as I know the area pretty well. What the hell are bureaucrats thinking? It seems they still think the world revolves around them. The building, which has a controversial so-called ‘poor door’ for residents living in social housing, has no fire alarms in communal areas, as official government guidance says the devices are “unnecessary and undesirable” in buildings designed for ‘stay put’ policies. This was March this year, nearly 5 years after Grenfell. |

What the hell are bureaucrats thinking? Shhhh, don't tell them it doesn't or they'll get really very, very, very sad and depressed. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Well, they can then get 6 months off with full pay as they can claim suffering from PTSD. :-) The sad thing is that the taxpayer & media won't say boo at that. |

"Blame Game" culture alive & well Block Management Ltd, which manages the property, says the wrap is not its responsibility and a construction company has been appointed to carry out the work. |

High court finds council guilty However the council only accepted that they were responsible for 5 deaths & admitted liability for the fire effecting 4 others. Also refusing to admit that their actions caused the fire to spread. |

Most of my working life was spent at ground level, & the amount of crap witnessed was tremendous, however this shyte is a 1st. Gas explosion destroys house Halfway through reading the report, it changed, one of the injured, a child had died. Residents say they had reported a strong gas smell two weeks ago and had felt dizzy in recent days.WTF were the emergency services? |

In the UK there is a well publicised dedicated phone line for reporting suspected gas leaks. I've used it, and the response was very rapid and very thorough. My guess is they phoned the non-emergency emergency services number which is next to useless for anything other than cats stuck in trees. I've used the dedicated line as well and a gas inspector was there with about 15 mins, in the middle of the day in central Manchester. He turned off the gas supply to the street and within an hour workmen were digging. |

DO NOT make the link active. It contacts several profanities, which to be honest, is very unusual for the BBC. Either cut & paste or go to the BBC website for "Toxic Culture". The report is shocking on many levels. Sadly I call it ISC (Institutional Superiority Complex) which I know has existed for decades, especially in the police & military. The worst offenders of ISC is the Civil Service. Many reforms have been asked for & publicly stated but no change as usual. Instead all we get are bureaucratic platitudes. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63045298 |

The homes, which included two residential special schools, charged local authorities £250,000 a year to care for each young person. And this is how they get treated |
