Is this McDonald's next contribution to the good health (or otherwise) of the world?... Stop the Next Pandemic, McDonald's! There is a very strong case that we have suffered the present COVID pandemic directly from certain widespread unhealthy farming/market practices that were abusing wildlife. Thankfully, one country is recently taking action to reduce that abuse, for the good of that country and consequently for the good of the world. Yet, we have a similar overdue disaster from the abuse of our domesticated farm animals here closer to home...? How NOT to be slimed: New Study Again Finds Mediterranean Diet Lowers Symptoms of Brain Aging wrote: ... What is the Mediterranean diet...? The true diet is simple, plant-based cooking, with the majority of each meal focused on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans and seeds, with a few nuts and a heavy emphasis on extra-virgin olive oil. Fats other than olive oil, such as butter, are consumed rarely, if at all. And say goodbye to refined sugar or flour. Meat can make a rare appearance, but usually only to flavor a dish. Instead, meals may include eggs, dairy and poultry, but in much smaller portions than in the traditional Western diet. [Also], fish, which are full of brain-boosting omega-3's, are a staple. Green Mediterranean ('green Med') diet may be even better for health wrote: A green Mediterranean ('green Med') diet, containing even more plant matter and very little red meat or poultry, may be even better for cardiovascular and metabolic health than the traditional version — at least in men — suggests research published online in the journal Heart... Note that there is no need to be unhealthy before enjoying a good healthy diet :-) Enjoy healthy food and a healthy life! Enjoy! The inevitable greedy unhealthy ways of intensive farming: Bird flu: China sees first human case of rare H10N3 strain wrote: A 41-year-old Chinese man has been confirmed as the first human case of infection with a rare bird flu strain. And even worse than your list are the "wet markets", where crates of living, dead and butchered animals are indiscriminately stacked on top of each other, at a "nice warm" temperature. Taken together a great bug party room where bugs, animals and humans can and do roam freely. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

We humans are not the only creatures to be slimed to death by greedily profitable processed foods: Shops recall pet food linked to {cat deaths} wrote: ... Owners should return food made on behalf of the brands by manufacturer Fold Hill as a precaution. Some vital ingredient vital for life not included in the cheaply non-nutritious substitutes?... Or what unhealthiness is cheaply contaminating that 'product'? Who greedily profits from that?... How cruel can food advertising get? The Food Industry Is Lying To You About Health & Nutrition - Here's Why wrote: What do you have for breakfast?... Special note: I've linked that for the details given in that one YouTube video about the advertising trickery and corruption. This is completely no recommendation to follow the advertised series. For some good food positivity: How small changes in food choice can make BIG everyday differences wrote: Stefanie Sacks works hands-on with individuals and groups in transition to a healthier way of eating... How to make healthy eating unbelievably easy wrote: ... Durward shares the obvious secret that is repeatedly overlooked by unsuccessful dieters... Those examples look to be beautifully everyday practical and fun! The only hardship is if you are unfortunately in a "food desert"... In which case some logistics planning is called for... Still fun if seen as a fun challenge :-) Full disclosure: Those examples nicely confirm why I don't go food shopping in supermarkets. Fortunately, I have some 'traditional' greengrocers within a reasonable distance from here. Eat healthy and live healthy! Ok, here's to round off with some slightly more heavyweight links but for some startling revelations: Food as Medicine | Michael Greger, M.D. wrote: ... the #1 cause of both death and disability in the United States is our diet. Cigarettes now only kill about a half million Americans every year, whereas our diet appears to kill hundreds of thousands more. The good news is that means we have tremendous power over our health destiny and longevity. Healthy eating has the potential to not only prevent, but reverse some of our leading causes of death... The evidence based miracles of food | David Stenholtz wrote: ... This oncologist and chief physician will take us on a journey to explore why plant-based diet seems to cure several chronic diseases. In this talk, David will uncover the scientific evidence behind how to transform your health with easy choices. ... educates the public about how what we eat affects our health and disease... And here is a very long article but an almost comprehensive summary of processed foods and health: Bernadette Keefe MD - {Ultra}Processed Food: Too Sexy for Our Own Good? wrote: ... Americans eat a staggering amount of ‘Fast Food’, spending $200 billion a year on these meals. Every day, one in four Americans eats at a fast food restaurant. Fast Food’s huge appeal is its particular taste, convenience/availability, and low cost. It’s cheap because the major commodities used to produce it: corn, soy, and beef are heavily subsidized by the U.S. government... But... What of the continued Pharmaceutics Marketing for no-morals profits?... Johnson & Johnson to pay $230m to settle opioid claim wrote: US drugs giant Johnson & Johnson is to pay $230m (£165m) to settle claims it fuelled an opioid addiction crisis in New York State. Is it still very profitable to get people hooked on drugs?Of course it is. Keep the production line running, hold on to the patent - endless profit for very lttle continuing outlay. You just have to keep the punters wanting more, without actually killing them. Cures have to come from a different part of the moral universe. |

Is it still very profitable to get people hooked on drugs? It is called a revenue stream. It is the fiduciary duty to the shareholders to secure profits. What better way? |

Noting the obvious and very well demonstrated: National Food Strategy: Tax sugar and salt and prescribe veg, report says wrote: Sugar and salt should be taxed and vegetables prescribed by the NHS, an independent review of the food we eat has suggested. Same old game by the 'food industry' to obfuscate the cause and effect. The simple game of very profitably causing ill health is that salt and sugar have been 'formulated' into processed foods to make those processed foods cheaply addictive. And those people already in poverty are excellent victims to target the massed Marketing at so as to victimize those victims ever further... Really, all 'just' no-morals profitable business? Meanwhile, the costs go further than 'just' the extra costs to our NHS to nurse the massed massively unhealthiness along... All in our greedy deadly world...
