I am not a gamer. I solved the problem on the Windows 8.1 PC by reinstalling the 436.30 driver which seems to work. But all my other projects use the 436.48 driver. I am running 6 projects, plus Science United. You still not or choose to not understand what we are talking here. For now, the issue was detected only with SETI Arecibo VHAR task and the available windows drivers 436.XX when you run windows 10, others projects, OS or drivers apparently are not affected by it. This is why you could run the others projects (and SETI) with the 436.30 or 436.48 in your windows 8.1 host without apparently any problems. But nothing warranted some undiscovered side effect of this problem. Something is clear, there is an issue on some part of the driver, if the other project not use this part it will run and nothing guarantees that will continue in the future. This is why the rest of us are concerned about fix this driver problem. ![]() |

I would imagine a large portion of people are on windows 10 these days. has anyone had this problem with windows 7? Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours ![]() ![]() |

OK. According to theregister.co.uk Windows 10 shall have a major update in November. Like it has happened on the 8.1 PC where a Microsoft update overwrote the nVidia driver, I shall load a 431 driver. Meanwhile thanks. Tullio |

Right click the Start button and select Control Panel. 2. Make your way to System and Security. 3. Click System. 4. Click Advanced system settings from the left sidebar. 5. Select the Hardware tab. 6. Press the Device Installation Settings button. 7. Choose No, and then press the Save Changes button. |

Not sure why this thread is still going when we already have a pinned thread on this very well-known issue but as it was established that the real issue was the 436-series drivers two pages ago, I will close this off as a duplicate and please use the pinned thread for future discussions on it. ![]() |
