You don't want Me to answer that, as that would require a Jedi mind trick. CA HSR built a foundation, is laying Track! PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550 Loco, US's 1st HST ![]() |

Hi Angela, Mike, Carlos, Admiral, and Vic. 😀😃😄😠I have Daedalus, (Mac Pro 5,1), Crunching. She'll work 'til Dec 31st. PG&E is raising rates effective 1-1-2020... May NOT be able to Crunch with Daedalus next year. (Power hungry Dual Xeon 2.4GHz CPUs, one GTX-970 4GB Card, one EVGA GTX-1050 2GB Card. NO CPU Crunching, just NVIDIA Crunching on TBar's CUDA90 V 0.97.) Hackintosh-Andromeda will continue Crunching. (i7 7700K 4.2GHz, one MacVidCards' GTX-1070 8GB Card, one EVGA GTX-1050 2GB Card. NO CPU Crunching, just NVIDIA Crunching on TBar's CUDA90 V 0.97.) I was beginning to like my RAC in the 60K region... Unfortunately, PG&E rates will mean that this will fall to the 40K or less region... 😢🙠It was nice while it lasted... CONGRATS, Carlos, on the 3 RTX-2070s!!! They are working nicely for you. 😀 Keep up the excellent work!!! TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Thanks TL. They are crunching well but I may have to cut back too. Current electric bill is around $500 a month. I have PG&E too. I need to keep them off during the peak time. 5-9pm. That would cut the bill in half. Need to find a program that does that. Winning on a cool Sunday morning. ![]() |

Boinc can schedule 5-9pm Carlos so that no crunching can be done then, just enter 2100-1700 in Boinc Preferences. CA HSR built a foundation, is laying Track! PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550 Loco, US's 1st HST ![]() |

But I don't just want to stop Boinc, I was to turn the computer off then back on again. ![]() |

Posting w/o burning the dried up tumble weeds at a neighbors place outside the park, someone called the FD who then called the CHP, both saw it wasn't dangerous since there was no wind and maybe they have a burn permit and left the scene. But I don't just want to stop Boinc, I was to turn the computer off then back on again. Off is possible. For that set BOINC to stop on a timer. Also set Doze power to sleep/hibernate the machine when no activity. Not sure how to force a wakeup. Also have an idea using a timer and a UPS. Plug the machine into the UPS so it knows charge level. Set it to turn off just before the UPS runs out of juice so a crash is averted. Also set it to wake up on power restore. Then plug the UPS into a timer. When the timer pulls power from the UPS the computer will run the battery down and turn off just before zero. For this to work the UPS does have to actually run the battery to zero and shut down before the timer turns the juice on. Then with the timer puts power back, the computer should turn on. Just make sure you have auto-logon set so it doesn't stop waiting for you to type in a password! You might end up spending more on UPS batteries than the power savings because of the number of full discharge cycles though. IIRC Linux actually has some commands to do exactly this kind of thing, but I don't think Doze does. |
