I am not getting new work units and old ones are just sitting there, the status page is very unclear as to what is going on.

Your computer has not connected to the SETI@Home servers since the 8th of September.

under tools there is only "attach to project" and "attach to account manager" no event log.
on the messages tab it says "access to reference site succeeded - project server may be temporarily down"
I can't find anything on this site that says what is working or not.

Sounds like you are using Simple View. Try Shift-Ctrl-E to get the Event Log to show.

I can't find anything on this site that says what is working or not.
At this moment, the website and other processes are working well. Be aware that it will stop working temporarily sometime in the next three hours, for routine maintenance. It won't be worth pursuing this question until it returns.

What is the url to the project site?
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/

as shown in the 'attach to project' wizard. That step can be taken using either http or https, but you will be switched to https later in the process - it has to be working on your computer.

Message 2013141 - Posted: 24 Sep 2019, 14:06:02 UTC

After writing Dr. Google a letter it appears I had a very old version of BOINC. I installed the latest and it seems to be working again. I had an old version because I have it installed on a server and way back when it would not let me install BOINC (past a certain version) on servers.

Message 2013422 - Posted: 26 Sep 2019, 20:34:49 UTC - in response to Message 2013141.

Can I get a bit of help as well? It seems I can't post a new thread for lack of credit or something of that sort.

I keep getting "No work available to process" and I would love to contribute. I built a high-performance PC with several things in mind, seti@home being one of them, but now I can't seem to get any new tasks to work on. I used to be a contributor many years ago but stopped for a long time.

My BOINC manager is up to date, could it be that there's not enough work to go around?

I also noticed two things in the 'project commands -> properties':

1. My scheduling priority is 0 (it was even negative before, but now I checked again and it's on 0)
2. It says that "Suspended via GUI" is on "yes" and I don't know what that means.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Suspended via GUI means suspended by the Manager settings. You have No New Tasks set for the Seti project under the Projects tab of the Manager. Set the "Allow new tasks" button to On so that it toggles to "No new tasks"
Then do an Update. It is also helpful to set the Event Log Options to have the sched_ops_debug flag on so that at each scheduler connection the Event Log will show how many seconds of cpu work and how many seconds of gpu work is requested.

[Edit] See that work fetch is resumed in the Log. Check other Preferences that might be preventing request for work, like suspend work if computer is busy.
