Message 2011631 - Posted: 11 Sep 2019, 21:02:05 UTC

I keep getting the message when screen saver comes on to scan. It says processor too high! I have turned off so many things in background and task manager made more room on hard drive. Got lots of room and memory and still same message, Can someone give suggestions to this problem?
Thanks
David

What says processor too high?
When Seti starts processing work, the CPU usage will go from next to nothing to as much as 100%. That's normal. Do you have some sort of system monitoring software with an alarm for high CPU usage?

Thanks for replying! The message is a Boinc on screen when screen saver comes on. It says that the CPU usage is too high to start scanning on this computer. I never had this happen except when i had a lot of windows open. I closed them and it worked fine over the years. I have no idea. I wanted to ask for suggestions. What I should check. As I have checked all that i know of. Thanks for your help!

What I should check. As I have checked all that i know of.

You need to figure out what it is that is producing the message- double clicking on it should (hopefully) give you an idea of what programme is complaining about the CPU usage.

Seti is very good at sharing system resources- it actually runs at the lowest priority level, so when other programmes need to do things, Seti releases the CPU for them to use. If it's an Antivirus programme that is complaining, i'd look for a setting in it that allows you to turn off the message & lets it just get on with scanning- otherwise i'd suggest a better AV programme would be the way to go.
