Hi all,
Just wondering exacly what the page "tasks" shows.
I noticed that the number of valids and validation inconclusive is going up and down a bit.

Does it only show tasks for a short period of time or?

you get to see your tasks that have been finished and validated for about 24 hours. If the task is inconclusive then it gets sent to another person to do, and those task stay in your list for 24 hours after it has been validated.

Yes. The Inconclusives get passed to another wingmen for further validation or move to Valid or your result gets declared Invalid because it did not agree with the other wingmen.

The task moves from the 'inconclusive' list to the 'valid' list where it stays for 24hours, then vanishes from view. This assumes that the result you returned was the one that was part of the valid set, if it wasn't then it ends up on your 'invalid' list.

on inconclusive WUs , once they are returned by another person hopefully they validate for 2 or 3 people. That valid or invalid will be in your list for 24 hours after it was validated or invalidated for you after the third person finished. So it won't just disappear right away. Once the 24 hours is up, if you missed seeing it, then you don't know which way it went.

It is also important to note that sometimes a WU needs to be done by more than 3 people to determine validity. Most of mine do get resolved on the 3rd try though.

Someone else can jump in and let us know if there is an add on program to keep your personal info longer.

edit : took so long to compose my message I see others have already given good answers :-)

There are a couple of external programs that will track your progress - SETISpirit and BOINC Stats come to mind, but I dare say there are others.

Thanks for mentioning SETISpirit! I had never heard of it before your post. Some time ago I posted over at that BOINC "Promotion" forum that they should promote and encourage 3rd party apps. This seems to be one yet I had never heard of it. Poking around I see it started in 2013 and is freeware. Apparently, the sources are proprietary as I did not see a source repository mentioned.

You don't have to look very far. Try the 'Add-ons' link in the 'Project' menu in the navigation bar above this forum. Or go direct to https://boinc.berkeley.edu/addons.php.

There's been a page like that for donkeys' years, but I was surprised to see that it has been kept reasonably well up-to-date: Last modified 4:24 AM UTC, March 02 2019.

Never knew that page existed. I asked back in June about promoting add-ones but never got a response from anyone. May I suggest a "sticky" thread for that "Promotions" forum that refers to that page? Promotions and add-ons go hand in hand.

Hi Rob,

I had an inconclusive hang around on my laptop for several weeks before it finally disappeared. It went deadline on another PC yesterday or today.

Have a great day! :)

Make your own post "Promotions". Then mark it for moderator review and ask for it to be made "sticky"

The Add-ons page might need a bit more of an update as SETISpirit is currently version 5.5.0. [Not 1.0.4]

There is also the main thread SETISpirit News And Updates for a bit more information.
(thread is also accessable through the SETISpirit add-on)
