I'm not going to second-guess what is probably a very difficult decision. I'll just hope you and your dog stay safe and the power stays on. I admire your pluckiness - dealing with your health issues the way you have to me, is courageous and admirable.

Dorian has destroyed 13000 homes in the Bahamas, with 61000 people needing assistance. Now it heads to Florida. Although its strength has diminished, it is now wider and dangerous. Best wishes to Bob DeWoody.

Well, Dorian turned northward just in time. Even though the coastline took a pounding further inland there isn't much damage. My power is still on and I haven't seen any downed trees or heavy structural damage. We, here in central Florida were lucky. I hope residents of states further north don't get a strong pounding either. My decision to stay at home worked out. For future reference I plan to investigate what sleeping arrangements are provided in public shelters. It would be almost impossible for me to get into and out of a cot sitting low to the ground on my own. So, fo now, I am safe as well as my dog.

A good bit of luck- Abaco and Grand Bahama were shocked by how slowly it moved. When it comes to storms, the faster they move, the better.

Here comes round 2. It's in the southeast Bahamas right now and has a 70% chance of developing into a tropical storm. Looks like the Bahamas is going to get whacked again.
