my setup is from 2012, but still performs well in everyday use. While using Windows 10, Boinc stats showed Radeon HD 5670 (Redwood) working. But now after installing (dual boot) and using Ubuntu 19.04 things are not the same. 'No usable GPUs found' says the Event log.

However, I think Ubuntu 19.04 itself is not guilty. Testing after commands from this page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RadeonDriver it looks like the Ubuntu drivers are working correctly. I also don't want to begin hassling with any proprietary drivers.

I've searched and read about this, and mostly it relates to something wrong with the drivers, but since Ubuntu'wise all seem well... I don't know. I'm not a Linux expert, so would be very thankful for help.

You linked to the driver help but skipped over the supported hardware. Your GPU isn't supported by the Radeon Driver built into Ubuntu.

You require a socalled GCN or Graphics Card Next GPU for full support automatically, and while older cards may have support, your's isn't on that list.

So, even when the 'Redwood' is on the 'Fully supported' list on the mentioned driver help page, with Ubuntu 14.04 + versions checkmarked, I'm in no luck?

If it is so (and obviously it is), could you point me to the hw part I skipped? Or to a list of GCN supported GPUs, if possible? Than You again,

What you need for calculations at Seti is OpenCL support. You need that in the driver.

GCN is Radeon HD 7800 and above. Those are supported with OpenCL, the rest may work but for display driver only.

Sorry, I'm still confused. As seen here: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-hd-5670.c248, my card features OpenCL 1.2. The feature is there, because when booted in to Win10, calculations utilize it, Breakthrough Listen is there also. And it stands also in my Seti Homepage's computers list / Win10 machine.

So: While the feature is on board, only Windows supports that feature, Ubuntu does not? Being a driver problem. Namely, the in-built Ubuntu driver - and thus BOINC/Seti - can not utilize that feature? And all I can do, is to buy a new card?

After all, if there is no solution, it is not a huge deal for me. But knowing that my Seti calculations maybe could run with same speed with Ubuntu as they did with Windows, would be nice. After all, the noise from the cooling fans is the same... And, I'm definitely going towards Linux and leaving Windows behind as much I can.

Or use a different Linux distro that does support your card. Or an older version of Ubuntu from prior that they only support GCN cards through their driver.
OpenCL is added via the driver, the GPU has got the support but without a driver it won't be able to utilize that support. It works that way in Windows as well, you will need to install the driver from AMD to be able to use OpenCL (well, at least it used to be required to do it that way).
