I know is not related to NC but maybe others has the same problem. I only use teamviewer to look my remote host operation (SETI only) from my laptop. For some reason the Teamviewer looks that and keep sending a msg tellig it`s looks like comercial usage. Sended a note to them telling this but they tell they can`t verify is not comercial use. Anyone has similar issue? Any sugestion on how to fix that? |

I have the exact same problem, and I too have tried to explain the situation to TeamViewer. No help to be had. |

I think a lot of people gave up on TeamViewer last year because of this issue. Some were able to sort it out, but many moved on to other products. Grant Darwin NT |

I gave up on TeamViewer about18 months ago for the same exact reason. Submitted form to "unlock" it. Took almost2 months for a reply. While waiting, I posted on the forums here at SETI and was recommended to go with TightVNC for my 6 Windows PC'S. It is free to use. I also use AnyDesk to access my PC'S from my Android phone. Any Desk works on Linux. https://anydesk.com/en TeamViewer is a DISASTER and just about every one is getting the "Commercial Use Suspected" message. https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/General-Questions/TeamViewer-thinks-I-m-using-the-software-commercially/m-p/69339#M31691 |

I think a proper VPN server, then VNC or SSH to individual systems is the way to go. Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours |

I called them and they told me that it was actually OK and that nothing would happen. They actually did not get my name of account information and nothing has happened. I think the messages were sent out to try to sort out some accounts that were using TeamViewer in a commercial manner, sort of like some of the spam email I keep getting. So far so good and that warning came some months ago now. SETI@home classic workunits 4,019 SETI@home classic CPU time 34,348 hours |

I think a proper VPN server, then VNC or SSH to individual systems is the way to go. Before TV i use to run with TightVNC, but i was forced to quit it`s use because the ISP close the router and i have no asccess to make the port it uses forward to the host, And of course my IP if changing on each conection, but for that i could use the no-ip service. Is there a way to do that in this case? TightVNC is free, light and I know is very reliable. Or maybe Anydesk is a better choice? <BTW> What is interesting in TV is why now after few years of use they imagine i use in comercial use if i only use in 1 host from 1 notebook. |

Greetings, Unless you can come up with an older version of VNC, it now requires a cloud account with them to work. I stay away from VNC myself. Since I am still using Winders 10 on my main, I use its built in RDC to access my Pis and my laptop. I use a wireless mouse and keyboard and the HDMI connection, to my monitor, for my Linux box. System works just fine for me. :) As for TeamViewer, they tried to be sneaky and extort money from users of the free version. Not doing to well for them, I would imagine, since most everyone here I see has gone with something else. :) Just some fuel for thought... :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? Last night I grabbed the latest version of the "free" VNC - it does not require a cloud account, and runs perfectly well across an isolated network. But you have to be very careful when getting the download as there are a couple of "trap pages" they use in attempts to get you onto one of their paid offerings, some of which do use cloud accounts. Also there is at least one spoof site that looks very much the real site and that one most certainly does ask you to set up a cloud account (and probably works on one's bank account at the same time) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Perhaps it was one of those "trap pages", I don't know. I just will not do anything requiring a cloud, well except my email I guess. ;) All the same, I'm staying away from VNC. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? Real VNC is the now pay version of VNC Tight VNC is the open source free product. Different features of course. TV may just count how often you use it to decide if it is commercial. Unless they are doing things like looking at the screen they have no idea what you are using it for. (if they are looking at screens then massive security hole) |

Real VNC is the now pay version of VNC Thanks for the tips, but i need a free version (just use to look at my lonely cruncher) for Linux and I not have access to route any port from the modem to the host. From TightVNC page: You should enable "port forwarding" in your router's configuration. Port forwarding allows passing external connections to computers in the internal network. Almost all routers support this type of redirection |

Real VNC is the now pay version of VNC You only need port forwarding when you are accessing the pc from outside of your network. I used toi use it from outside, nowadays I don;t bother, and it's excellent across the home network. P. |

One more comment about TV: I used it for a few years on my internal network (all BOINC projects, no commercial use) until TV sent me the "Commercial use suspected" and cut the connection, refused to allow me to continue even though I tried to convince them it was my hobby use, and no commercial use. (It is very hard to prove you are NOT doing something!) No dice, no reinstatement. I found I could continue to use TV on my internal network by setting each computer to a specific internal 192.168.xxx.xxx IP address, and then use TV to connect to those IP addresses. I still get messages from TV asking me to register, but I ignore them. |

An update Wish you best of luck that TeamViewer does not"pull the rug out from under you" in a few months like they did to me and thousands of other's. Based on postings on their "support" site I would give them 3 to 6 months max before it happens again. |
