I just received msg that a new driver is available. When I go to the driver download page I found that the latest driver 431.70 is a "Studio Driver" as opposed to the previous driver, 431.60 which is a "Gaming Driver" (24/07/2019).

Anybody know which is the better option here on Seti and BOINC. I don't do much gaming, so the "Gaming Driver" is not a must have for me.

Neither.
If it's working, and you don't game, and don't have new hardware that needs a new driver to get it working, best to just leave it alone.

"gaming" - they've updated something to with one or more games
"studio" - they updated something to do with one or more graphic/av application

As Grant says, unless you use one of the games or other applications then there is no need to update.

Looking at the 10 series it appears all WHQL are game ready and I did not see a single studio driver that was rated WHQL At one time I think they were named "NON-WHQL" My take on this is that "studio" sounds better than "NON-WHQL" and users are more likely to download it, report problems back, and help nVidia decide if it needs fixing or if they can just simply rename it "quality tested and certified to run in buggy windows games'
