Tasks failed
1

If you fail a task, BOINC gives you a 24 hour timeout and only sends you one task for the next day. You have to return that one task as valid before it will send you any more. You are likely in timeout.

I'm sorry, but the log I sent you is from the wrong system. I'll get on the other system.

Something strange about that system. You are up to 786 tasks currently and you should only have a maximum of 500. One cpu =200 tasks and one gpu =300 tasks. For the venue location that host is on, does it have cpu work enabled? Are you spoofing gpus that would give more work than a stock system?

[Edit] Forgot you said you reset the host. Likely the extra tasks are lost tasks or ghosts.

Message 2023286 - Posted: 16 Dec 2019, 1:53:13 UTC - in response to Message 2023284.

The system has a quad cpu and the gpu is running 3 tasks at one time. Hope that helps. It may have been giving me an extra shot of GPU work, since I didn't have any CPU work running.
Good news though, my last batch of tasks as a few CPU tasks in it. I guess the problem is solved and you were correct.

Thanks a bunch for your time and efforts. Much appreciated.

If this is the same machine, looks like you have a good bunch of ghosts:

Your CPU requests were likely in "back off request mode" and that can be for as long as 4 odd days.

There was a simple way to check and rectify that with the ancient BOINC version that I use to use, but I can't seem find out how to do that yet with the much newer version that I'm using now.
If you have the Manager running, highlight Seti in the projects tab and then select Properties. That shows you the backoff timeouts for both the cpu and gpu.
Ok, I was looking at my 2500K rig at the time and all it showed was "Scheduling priority -0.05 to - 0.09" and that's with the 3 days +0.1 settings, but since my "-nobs" experiment on it I didn't get me the full 200 CPU tasks (even though the ARR was 2.7-2.9 days) and then I actually checked my 3570K which does get the whole 200 task allocation showed what I was use to under the ancient version that I was use to (both CPU and GPU are shown no matter what cache settings were set with the ancient version) so I changed the 2500K cache settings to 4 days + 0.1 and now I get both priority settings on it.

So I take it that as soon as you close that window and hit the Update button still resets the back off time like the older versions did?

Cheers.

Yep.
Hitting update resets all the backoffs.

Hi Grant,

Look at it this way: It couldn't happen on a more appropriate day than today, Tuesday maintenance day. :)

My only concern is will my cache run dry before the end of maintenance? :/

Have a great day! :)

It feels like it's limping back into life. Started to accept reports of completed work (slowly), but can't find any new work. I suspect a database crash - I hope no damage was done.
