It has been down long enough for someone to consider taking action, such as going down to the pub and having a drink. That has been known to ameliorate the situation. If that doesn't work it is highly probable someone will set their hair on fire or start howling at the moon. |

Anything for the SETI cause. <edit> Just for the cause, my host not need any new work for the next few days. By a mistake i started a >12K WU cache enough for 4-5 days. |

Been researching through my logs to get a better handle on the start time - between 'last good contact' and 'first bad contact'. latest good: earliest bad: 08 Sep 10:20 10:35 15 Sep 10:51 11:07 22 Sep 10:34 10:39 29 Sep 10:36 10:41 06 Oct 10:39 10:48(times in UTC) So, not quite as consistent as we thought but pretty close. I've got a couple of email addresses, so I'll fire off a missive. |

You might as well because Juan's visit to the pub hasn't worked yet. |

It is time to try a different tactic, and a bit of this. |

Thanks to all who are helping. Richard thanks for emailing, and the rest for making such sacrifices (pub going , howling, hair burning). I've got the kitties howling, but there is no moon here, so not sure if it helps. |

How long can something be considered "temporarily", before it is called permanently?Everything is temporary. No exceptions. |

Last good contact here was at 3:39:29 AM, lots are building up. And yes I wish they'd fix this. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

How long can something be considered "temporarily", before it is called permanently? Everything is temporary. No exceptions. Everything is temporary - and that's a permanent condition. But if it's a permanent condition then everything can't be temporary. But if everything is always temporary - it's permanent. But ... :-O I'm putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all, I think, that any conscious entity can ever hope to do. |

10:42 GMT was my last contact... Out of GPU tasks, CPU running short... Any room at the aforementioned pub? |

At least this time around, I know it's not an openSSL/certificate issue. Glad that debacle is over (for me). I still have about half my cache left to chew through at-present. Would be nice if the limits could be increased a tad, but I understand the need for them as they are. Still would be nice if one of the big database companies could use this project as a case study to learn how to make a db that works well at this size. From what I can recall, the db is about 10x beyond "uncharted territory" for all of them and "theoretically should be fine." Yeah...we ran up against theoretical limits on our database at one of the supercomputer sites I worked at for the navy about a dozen years ago. We ended up making our own database, removing the relational aspects of it, and designing it as a flat file system. We also removed our 64 bit trusted operating systems, because we realized a performance loss chasing precision which was absolutely unnecessary. SGI about had a fit when we dropped to TRIX 32. I miss SGI. Sometimes, simple is just better. |
