Should recover soonest since the assimilators and deleters are on the downward trend now.

And there aren't any more Arecibo files full of shorties and noise bombs to split- we just need to get through what's in left in people's caches without running out of work, or the system falling over.
*fingers crossed*

Looks like the load might have peaked, although there is another old Arecibo file being split. Hopefully there won't be much in the way of shorties & noise bombs from this one, and things can continue to settle down.

Fourth week and nearly same time every Sunday and:

29-Sep-19 15:54:42 | SETI@home | Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server
29-Sep-19 15:54:43 | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
29-Sep-19 15:54:45 | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

Shouldn't someone be alerted on this possibility so that users do not get tortured "SETI Style"???

I'll see you all next Sunday...

It's so stupid, 3 weeks ago I build a machine with Dual Xeon Gold (40 cores, 80 vCores) and 4x 2080TI just for SETI...
I spend thousands of Euros and even with 500 Cached WUs I run out of work latest after 1,5 hours of SETI Server Problems.
I would like to get a better BOINC Client to cache more workunits, I even would pay for help, because I use this machine for heating my apartment...
Best regards
Matthias

I'm disappointed that this problem happens EVERY SUNDAY AROUND THE SAME TIME and this is the 4th time.

It is 7:20ish in California, I'm guessing it is best to wait until after 9 to send a bat signal, but could someone who has the contacts please alert them to the fact that this happens every Sunday morning now.

Nothing to do but enjoy your favorite ritual when the machine goes down. Go to the pub and be social, drink a beverage of choice, howl at the moon, or burn hair. I'm going to see if I can read some more of my book. I'm reading the Expanse series right now and those books are good, but very big.

I'm doing my part, in the same bar/pub exactly as the last sundays, you need to keep the tradition alive.
Is early in the day here so no moon to howl but sure some hair to burn and a lot of good beverages and friends.
The spoofed cache could hold for an entire day if i get drunk.
BTW the elephant sit at my side send a Good Sunday to all.

Hello Mathias:

That should be a machine that will blow the doors off a lot. Is yours water cooled? My triple 2080 ti is and after 3 weeks it is now back up again. It had a water leek and the builder had to come out to fix it.

Obviously Juan's trip to the pub worked there is no need to set hair on fire or howl at the moon.
Thanx Juan

Hi Miklos, I hope it is okay to send you some information, even if this is offtopic.
But yes it is water cooled, first I was a bit afraid if this could work but it works incredibly perfect with low noise level, so I can work and skype in the same room)
Temperature of each 2080 Ti GPU and both Xeon CPUs is 56 °C (+/- 2 °C while room temperature is 27 °C)
I have 3 radiators inside:
- 1st in the top of the case: 480mm with 8x 120mm fans (push & pull) (they are pushing fresh air inside)
- 2nd in the sidepanel: 240mm with 2x 120mm fans (pull) (they pulling out the warm air, trough the radiator)
- 3rd in the bottom of the case: 480mm with 4x 120mm fans (push) (they are pushing the "caseair" trough the radiator)
and 3 more case-fans: 2x 120mm in the front delivering fresh air, and 1x 120mm fan in the back to push out the warm air.
Power supply is a Corsair AX1600i, which takes fresh air from the side of the case, it even stays warm and is not getting to hot.
