. . Ruh Roh, I read what you are saying. I believe it will be nice to clear some files that have been sitting for some time if nothing gets automatically loaded over the weekend |

It would be nice indeed ... Stephen ? ?[/quote] It really depends on the data. I think we might have enough to last until EARLY monday morning, but honestly it would be so close that we would all panic. There is also a 6 hour RTS queue. I also know the seti team is great about just adding more files over the weekend, so at this point I have no panic, but that might change on Sunday night. |

While I'm personally finding this whole Linux thread interesting, perhaps a mod could move the whole thing to another thread as it clearly has nothing to do with the SETI servers being in Panic Mode? |

While I'm personally finding this whole Linux thread interesting, perhaps a mod could move the whole thing to another thread as it clearly has nothing to do with the SETI servers being in Panic Mode? There are a number of threads like this one in "Number crunching" that should probably be in "Questions & Answers" under their respective OS. As "Number crunching" has become something of a mixed-bag it is difficult to see where this thread should be. Perhaps a simple name change to reflect it's Linux-ness :) What do others think? Keep it short please. (I'll remove this and follow up posts when some overall agreement or 3 days have past.) Of course the Mods as a whole may have a better quicker solution. |

Move the Linux related posts to either "Don't know where it should go? Stick it here!" https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=82901 or to "Setting up Linux to crunch CUDA90 and above for Windows users" https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=81271 Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Please forgive my goldfish memory, I had already blocked out Cosmic Ocean's problems ... :( . . I have to agree that all the 'what version works' messages should be in an OS related thread. It's a pity that TBar's development related thread is now locked I think ... it would have been the most appropriate for that discussion. Stephen ? ? |

And the Scheduler is down, again. Time to use Richard technique, go to the Pub/Bar and wait until all is fixed, |

And the Scheduler is down, again. Hi Juan, It is way too early to try to attempt to use that method. It's only 7AM here where I live. lol ;) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. I spent the last sunday's outage reading Boinc source code trying to find out what it would take to increase my work queue enough to survive these. Now it is paying off :) |

Greetings, I am dangerously close to running out of GPU WUs on Minty-Winders. I'm good for another half hour and then I'll have NONE. :( There's a pattern to this weekly debacle. The first week I thought I jinxed the whole thing because I was running BOINC on a new OS, Linux Mint v19.2. But now? I don't know... Have a great day! :) Siran [edit] I am now out of GPU WUs. :( [/edit] CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. I spent the last sunday's outage reading Boinc source code trying to find out what it would take to increase my work queue enough to survive these. Now it is paying off :) Hi Ville, I'm starting to see the benefit to the "spoofing" thing. In less than a half hour I'll be out of GPU WUs. My problem is, I'm running Linux and don't have a clue about programming and compiling on Linux. :( Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? And the Scheduler is down, again. . . Yep, Apache is on the war path for the 3rd consecutive week. ... I know but somebody had to say it ... . . We need someone to write a kludge to give Apache the appropriate kick in the appropriate place at about 5 am each Sunday morning Berkeley time, just to keep things working ... I think we're back in business! 22/09/2019 14:54:35 | SETI@home | Reporting 128 completed tasks 22/09/2019 14:54:39 | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 127 new tasks That's quite quick for a big request. And a batch of new BLC35 tapes, too. |

My problem is, I'm running Linux and don't have a clue about programming and compiling on Linux. :( I don't have too, just follow the instructions in: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/CompileClient The code is in the standard C++, last time i see something like it was >35 Years ago in my engineering school. About the outage, that was fast! I only could drink a couple of beers. You see Richard technique works perfect. LOL |

I'm starting to see the benefit to the "spoofing" thing. In less than a half hour I'll be out of GPU WUs. My problem is, I'm running Linux and don't have a clue about programming and compiling on Linux. :( Hi Juan, Sorry, but I'm not even going to attempt that. I went to GitHub and saw ALL those files without a clue about them. I'm not a programmer, let alone a Linux programmer. Sure, back in the day, I dabbled in C++ programming and some B.A.S.I.C., but gave it up because my brain was not up to the task. Memory has never been good and learning sucks. It takes way too long for me to learn things, especially complicated things like computer programming. So, I stay away from it even if I could benefit from it as in this case. :) I guess Richard's technique does work. But, when I did drink beer, I didn't drink before 5 or 6 in the afternoon. It's morning here. :) Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L.
