I wonder too. I got the feeling that it was imminent. Especially after seeing the pics on Richard's phone. It looked all put together and ready to go. I thought it would have made an appearance by now.

I doubt they will release a new app during the middle of WOW.

I doubt they will release a new app during the middle of WOW.

. . It won't (or should not) require a new app. They are the same format as Greenbank data so probably won't really need to go through Beta, but I suspect they will anyway, just to be sure, to be sure. Last I heard they had to correct a discrepancy in the file header for the transfer 'tapes'. But that may be incomplete information. But it would be nice if the files were to being flowing this side of Christmas ...

not panic, but worried concern.

I'm amazed that the seti system is up and running. They have definitely changed either the hardware or the setup.

On the good side. The replica is pretty much back in sync.

On the how is this still working side... The deletions are over a million. Splitting usually grinds to a halt when deletions get large, but the system is still chugging along. The RTS queue is hovering around 100k, so there shouldn't be a shortage of WUs for anyone.

How is the upload/download speed?? queries/sec looks very good. (under 2k).

Good job Seti team!!

slight panic as the RTS queue is pretty much empty now. They are splitting an Aricebo file AP and MB right now, so that will help a little bit, but the system is buckling under the load.
Human intervention wouldn't help in this situation.

I certainly did it is slightly an unfortunate time for testing. Someone said they would test after WOW

Beta is the best place to try it out first as if there are issues it won't affect here on Main. And since Beta & WOW have nothing to do with each other, that won't be an issue either.
The sooner the new server is up and running here, the better IMHO.

Getting a new server bedded in on a very light load during the WOW event is a good idea. The load will pick up when WOW finishes in just under a week's time, then give it a couple of weeks before moving it over to main.
Just think of the fuss from some folks if the new server was brought into service on main during WOW and promptly fell over big time.....

I'd give it at least a full month after.

[edit] 6 weeks would be better if all the beta testers hit it up.

Cheers.

What can cause the huge spikes in Munin graphics for Average turnaround? Average usually is around 30-40 hours but the spikes are around 200-350 hours. Someone is returning a lot of long overdue tasks in batches? It must be huge batches for the average to jump so high.

I have only one too. I do for the science and the fun.
Bunkering, spoofing or whatever are just different ways to have fun.
WoW is an event, a celebration, not a competition, that is what some still not understand.

No matter how much you could crunch, the important is participate in the party.
BTW this is exactly the same philosophy of SETI@Home anyone could participate, no matter the size of his cruncher or farm, from a single Pi, to a large minning cruncher, all are welcomed to the party.

If you can do it hats off to you, WoW is now a competition and all science has gone out the window..

I still believe in the human race... but start to loose my faith.

. . Never lose your faith, there are always some good people out there.

. . But while the digging out of old hardware to boost numbers is OK, the bunkering thing does get overdone by some. Some have more credit in the first day than they will get over the remaining 2 weeks of the event.

I have to wonder, why can't this event just be straight forward; no spoofing, no bunkering, just straight forward crunching to see who comes out on top? We already know who's on top.

Well, for some folks it is life or death, and they see the only way to live is to spoof, bunker etc. so they do it to an extreme.
There are others who spoof and/or bunker as a way of life.
While others just carry on as they always have done, but maybe chuck a few extra computers on line for the couple of weeks of the WOW event "just for the heck of it".

Very sluggish site now. It takes a long time for the site to respond.
Posting is a pain of course.

Blame myself and Ian. We are posting very large PM's containing compiling code printouts. Site has been slow ever since we started the compiling crash course discussion.

In progress climbing, Received-last-hour climbing, WU-awaiting-deletion backlog climbing, splitter output & Ready-to-send buffer falling. And the Web site is slower than month of wet Sundays.
