I'll bet some people will ignore the warnings in their holiday adventures.
Like the American fellow Otto who in a North Korean hotel ignored the warnings "Staff only"...
And like the two fellows from Britain and Belgium "touristing" the Muskö naval base...

Mark - that pretty sums up my feelings too.
Let's hope those cool heads prevail.

Guys... it's a joke. The vast majority of the people who've signed up won't actually go, or if they do, they'll just buy some merchandise at the Alien Center and chat with fellow alien enthusiasts. The buzz is also very likely to die as quickly as it rose and be long forgotten by September.

Of course, I wouldn't it put past some people to take it seriously. Those who have more sense will realise it's suicidal before doing it; and it not, well... I wonder which of them would get the Darwin Award?
Gazing at the skies, hoping for contact... Unlikely, but it would be such a fantastic opportunity to learn.

Are you sure people who wear tin foil hats can understand that?

We know it's joke, but the Air Force is getting prepared for some who might think otherwise.
Somebody is going. The hotels in the area are nearly fully booked. I could only find 10 rooms in all of Roswell. And they are charging double their usual rate. Rosewell Inn is normally $49 a night.

But isn't Roswell Inn located in New Mexico?
Area 51 is in the Mojave Desert in Nevada.
Perhaps you can find cheaper and closer accomodations in New Vegas.

I'd be going if I lived in the US. ;-) But just as an opportunity to visit the region, not to storm a military base. As for the Air Force reaction, their job isn't humour...

Not much to see out there. That is why they put it where it is. Desert, rocks, cactus, more rocks unexploded ordinance, alien remains, more rocks. Oh there are some really cool rocks. Then there is vegas. But no says anything about that.

Budlight is giving free beer to any Alien that escapes Area51! Sounds like a nice publicity move....

I think Bud needs a basic biochemistry primer... I would recommend avoiding any local intoxicants on alien worlds. May be more toxic than expected. :^)

Another question might be. What Earth might not consider a intoxicating drink (ie: curdled milk) for us to be a intoxicating drink for aliens 👽.

At yesterday's press conference in Los Angeles, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was asked about Area 51.
The Swede was asked to speculate on what might be hiding in there.
- Not another Zlatan. That's for sure. Because he's here, Ibrahimovic answers and laughs.
He also gets the question of whether the US military should let him in.
- I have my own Area 51, the 37-year-old smiles.
His LA Galaxy plays derby against Los Angeles FC at Saturday night.

Storming Area 51 - Seth Shostak, Senior Astronomer - Aug 1, 2019 | SETI Institute
https://www.seti.org/storming-area-51

"The idea for this effort was birthed on Facebook, and it was clearly intended as a joke. But so was Johnny Carson’s 1973 claim that the U.S. was running out of toilet paper – an offhand attempt at humor that triggered a real shortage. So joke or no, the hordes might really show up at the closely guarded federal facility. BookMaker, an Internet betting site, is already weighing the odds of a tsunami of citizens storming the chain-links and, if they do, the chances that they’ll find any aliens mothballed inside. It’s all good fun (unless, perhaps, you’re a security guard for the Air Force.) But should you go? And, really, is there any reason to believe that extraterrestrials are stacked up at Area 51?"

Good old-fashioned reporting using a "man on the street" approach.

The only response I can think of is "You wanna make a bet?" It will be interesting to see just what lengths the government will go to in keeping the lunatic fringe out of the base.

The stormers ARE this government's base.
