Anyone confirm that the lowest cache you can set is 0.1 day? I have tried to set a lower value but it is not accepted. Trying to fix the perennial problem of Einstein swamping requests for work from any other project.
Even at 0.1 day and 0.01 additional day, these appear to be the lowest I can set the cache for Einstein. If nobody else tells me otherwise, I guess I will have to go the normal NNT route for Einstein on my Jetson Nano SBC.

Strange... I've always been able to use 0.01 and 0 additional for testing on both the repository 7.2.42 and AIO BOINC. However that was for SETI@Home, but still it's BOINC rather than a project setting.

OK, I guess it is just a Einstein problem then, shame. Every time I try to lower my Einstein Home venue from 0.1 and 0.01 it just comes back to the same values in the entry box. The Update preferences button never shows an impending change and so nothing ever gets saved.

[Edit] Aha! I got it to stick when I went to comparison view. Now set to 0.1 and 0 day.

Unfortunately, even with cache set to 0.01 days and now even 0.001 days, no matter the values, Einstein keeps giving me 12 tasks at every connection even after aborting the tasks. That many gpu tasks swamps my Seti gpu task request as it always says the gpu cache is already full with Einstein gpu work. So it looks like the NNT method is the only way to keep Einstein from sending me too much work and prevents Seti from getting work.

Did you set the Einstein Resource share in Preferences > Project to 0 (zero)?

As long as SETI@Home is >0 then Einstein should then only download one work unit per available core/GPU slot depending on your settings.

No I don't want a resource share of 0 for Einstein. I want it to process gpu work too. I have a 10:1 resource share ratio for Seti to Einstein and Einstein still swamps Seti.

I found in the past that Einstein is very "good" at dumping loads of tasks into the cache at a 10:1 ratio, but after much trial and error I found 100:1 worked until Tuesdays....

Well I tried Mr. Kevvy's suggestion about setting Einstein resource share to zero for S&G's and it seems to hold the number of tasks at 3. I can accept that as it allows Seti to get work. But from what I understand of using that practice the cache should only be 1. Whatever, for now I'll stop with that. If it doesn't hold, I'll try your suggestion of 100:1.

Back to your original question, Keith, I wish for some of these settings there was a manual or something that would tell you what the min/max and resolution for inputs.

Unfortunately for a lot of BOINC parameters, there are no published min and maxes. Some parameters are simply noted with suggested, default and maximum values. But those seem to be the exception. Normally you just have to try a lot of values to see what sticks and actually works. Some values are apparently accepted yet do nothing.
